The first tour I saw them on Kevin, they were awesome.  At the time I disliked the album intensely as it was just so different from what went before it.  I love it now and Losing It is one of my favourite ever tracks

First few times I played this it didn't really do much for me. But I thought I would preserve. Perhaps it's a 'grower'.

It is. I was the same, but I strongly recommend you to persevere. I'm now convinced it's the best he's ever done in all his disguises.

I first saw them in '79 on the Hemispheres tour, David, then again in 1980. I have to say that they largely lost me after Signals, although there are some bits of GUP and Power Windows I quite like.

Inspired by recent Springsteen posts I'm playing this trifecta, first two on early vinyl, the last on CD. Sultry music for a warm, late-August evening.

Clark: Empty the Bones of You

... fantastic experimental electronica with superb rhythms ...

Agreed, he's one of my favourite Warp artists. Have you heard Jamie Lidell's 1st album? Far more experimental, totally madcap!

PS: listening to Neu! 75 on UnitiQute, very relaxing....

No - but its on the playlist for tonight - should have our new sofas by then

Oh well, if we're having an eighties fest.....................this one?

Superb album - i loved it when it came out - first owning the cassette and then LP - now have it on ripped CD - and I enjoy it even more - it must improve with age... the history of this album is amusing. An adhoc collection of tunes and songs recorded by Alison and Vince after hours in Eric Radcliffe's  recording studio - as used in Vince's earlier Depeche Mode days.. - hence the name. Apparently neither of them really knew what they were doing so it is said- it certainly doesn't sound that way - but perhaps the contrast of the relatively simplistic unlayered  electronic synth style  of Vince's melodies with the gorgeous bluesy voice of Alison Moyet  adds to its appeal.

A great blend of European medieval music with the Moorish equivalent prevalent in Southern Spain during the 12th to 15th centuries, this Arab-Andalusian music gives a lovely insight into the wonderful culture at that time for those lucky enough to be able to enjoy it in full.

Stevee_s - cool - early renaissance music and electronica seem to bizarrely some how seem to go well together - i will hunt this one out.

I agree Simon, for some unknown reasons I've always been attracted to early and ancient European music and various electronica, there are many albums out there (of 12th century onward) where it is blended with the North African Moorish culture of the time, lovely stuff. I'm sure it will be ok to leave a music link here, the one I'm listening to now is findable on Tidaland this one here is particularly good  but I think that you will have to buy it. The comments from buyers will give you a lead on to other albums in a similar vein...

@Spurrier, it's very easy to find, either on the Internet Archive (archive.org) or even on YouTube - just google "Grateful Dead RFK 1973. Well worth hearing if you have a spare 4 hours!
