Interesting EP...

Time for a change of direction. The queen of smoky torch songs on a 1970 compilation album. This is a UK first pressing. Superb sound, great arrangements from Ernie Freeman, wonderful production job by Snuff Garrett. Oh and that voice...

IMHO his best work yet. Been following his progress since his Father sent me copies of his first 2 ep's before he signed to Blue Note way back when. He has always had the voice but think he is finally finding his niche.

A new artist for me Ewen - giving this a run on Tidal and sounding very nice.  Cheers N.

Occasionally, one gets a craving for something sweet and glossy - and The Q in his 1970s and 80s pomp is the acme of gloss. Some slush on here but enough of the good stuff toi maintain interest. On 1980 A&M US first pressing:

Del Amitri, Del Amitri, brilliant debut album from one of my favourite groups. These are incredibly good live, in the best three acts I have ever watched live, as is Justin Currie for that matter.  Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Have to say though my friend I still think he hasn't made that killer album that's in him yet.

This guy is the same followed him for awhile but for me he just hasn't got the right material yet. Have a listen to Caramel off this album as a pointer to what he is capable of. The track has a lovely feel and groove to it. There is a fabulous version of it he did with Daryl Hall and Amos Lee on the Live at Daryls House.

Last album of the evening, Airbourne, No Guts No Glory.  If ACDC were still young this is what they would sound like. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

After the high gloss of Quincy, something a bit more gritty. Superb 2015 debut from spiky Aussie songstrel:

A+ | Transcoded DSD

(2015)

Up there with Zombi's best, punchy, synthy space rock, it grabs your attention right from the off.

I only meant to take a quick break but the music seems to have take over, so I've given up work for the day. I'll have to so some tomorrow instead.

Back to the funk, and a double live album from '76, on a UK first press. Not the greatest recording ever made but the performances are great and the bass playing is phenomenal.
