UK first press mono vinyl. Rather scratchy, but a great listening nevertheless:

A+ | Transcoded DSD

(2009)

Something to follow on from the luverly Zombi space rock, the Ozrics, always very good and even better on summer evenings like today, played very loud, yet another advantage of having no neighbours within close vicinity.

Why? It's blues night again.

To start a three days weekend:

Great straight-forward jazz. On top of Lundgren's delicious piano, the bass is exceptional.

John Mellencamp. Trouble No More. On CD from 2003. Blues and folk covers. A bit of a bluesy hoedown. Highly energetic, gritty with a raw edge, and an up-close sonic to the performances. First listen and I absolutely loved it top to bottom.

Mark Knopfler. Sailing To Philadelphia. On HDCD from 2000. Earlier this year I fell in love with the Knopfler/Harris collaboration on "All The Roadrunning". Since then I've tried "Shangri-La", "Get Lucky" & "Kill To Get Crimson" but found those a bit too genteel for my rock taste. This one - STP - is quite enjoyable, even on first listen . Maybe more of that familiar Dire Straits sound, and you can't go wrong with contributions from JT and the Belfast Cowboy.

Have you had a listen to Privateering yet? A little different and possibly too genteel for you again, but there are some very interesting and enjoyable tracks on there.

Nigel -  thanks for the response. Have yet to hear "Privateering" and will definitely keep an eye out for it during my diggings. Despite my 'genteel' comment regarding a few of his albums, Knopfler ranks very highly among the singer/songwriters and guitar virtuosos I hold in high esteem.

A bit of prog rock this morning to start the day.

Robert Plant. Dreamland. On CD from 2002. I'm playing catch up with Plant's discography. Another creative and artistic album, a deviation from the mainstream that works with a powerful infusion of various musical explorations. Musically wonderful, my only complaint is a stridency to the SQ. It plays more forgiving on the boombox in my garage than on my Naim gear.
