2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

First spin - first impression is excellent.

I do like a little bit of the Doors and this is one of their best, plus this 2010 Rhino reissue sounds amazing 'full bodied' is one way to describe it.

Now this same amazing SQ..

Think I'll put this on now and follow Jim's advice by waking up and grab myself a beer. Football on all on all day starting early this morning , for me, in Ireland.

(1993)
Time for something a little different and this from the Flaming Lips will do nicely.

1973 UK first pressing with solid blue prism labels.

Bowie On Vinyl

Not usually one for compilation albums but 'Shaking the Tree' works as an excellent collection.

Still as fresh as the day it was released.

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
Great memories listening to this with my Dad when I was 13. Still a favourite today and always will be.
On Vinyl today as it was back then

The Doors-LA Woman
enjoyed the first one so much why not another?

Two for one, great stuff, soulful singing from Gary U.S. Bonds.
If you've not heard him, have a listen, you'll soon pick up on where Mr Springsteen got his singing style from.

Stunning last piece of work from Bowie

Greatly enjoyed this last night. I put it on to listen to track 2 only, but that moved me so much I stayed for the rest of the album. Great song writer and emotive performer. Can get too schmaltzy and sugary at times on his 'produced' albums, but this is so stripped bare that it really throws the spotlight on his voice and emotions. Fab.

Simple Minds Abbey Road Half Speed Master of New Gold Dream
The Commodores, Love Songs, super chilled and smooth. Original Vinyl
Elvis Costello and The Roots-Wise Up Ghost
