2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Following my last shout, above, I seem to be in a Gary frame of mind this afternoon.

Emerson Lake & Palmer
On Vinyl
Sorry, earlier post dropped the cover art image... Hopefully this time it works. (In case not, Neil Diamond 12 Songs is what I'm on about)

Greatly enjoyed this last night. I put it on to listen to track 2 only, but that moved me so much I stayed for the rest of the album. Great song writer and emotive performer. Can get too schmaltzy and sugary at times on his 'produced' albums, but this is so stripped bare that it really throws the spotlight on his voice and emotions. Fab.

Cat Stevens - Izitso - on original vinyl. Ages since I played, still think he wrote some great albums. This one a bit of a mixed bag, but overall I enjoy
Killing Joke - Pylon (2015)
1st listen. The most obvious thing is this is mixed for the audiophile. I was expecting tinnitus by the third track but the sound is really well balanced!

Excellllent band. I saw them twice and subsequently Mark Lanegan solo. Quite something to see the 20+ stone Gary Lee Connor rolling around on the floor whilst playing lead. Never saw him and his brother Lee fighting though, apparently a regular feature of their live performances. Oblivion is another excellent album.

Sting - "The Soul Cages" (1991)

While I love most early Genesis albums, this one has always remained my favourite.
Paul McCartney - "NEW" (2013) I always enjoy playing this. Great album.

I was watching the movie last night, so thought I would give the soundtrack a spin. This is the 1997 Rhino 2-CD edition, with four extra tracks each from the Floyd and Jerry Garcia. The picture might be a stinker, but the soundtrack is brilliant:

Bonnie Raitt - Slipstream - in hi-res. Good album, well recorded. Some excellent bass playing!
A+ | Transcoded DSD

(1999)
Certainly one of the Ozric's finest later albums, lovely spacey rock, rhythmic, hard driving psychedelia in their inimitable style.

Sonya Kitchell - "Words Came Back To Me" (2007)
Indigo Girls - Poseidon & the Bitter Bug in hi-res. Fairly indifferent to their other albums, but some good stuff on this one. Was one of my most played albums when in Rio, and still enjoy just about every track.

Terry Evans - "Puttin' It Down" (1995) great blues singer
I love Mariza's albums, and haven't played this one for a while.

Rolling Stones - Some Girls
What a record! If ever an album has to be heard as an album, and not just cherry-picked for a playlist, this is it. I mean, Miss You is not even the best track.
Now Damon Albarn and friends - The Good, the Bad and the Queen.
Bill Wyman's bass wasn't giving my SBLs enough cone excursion.

Glyn Johns work tapes used during the Let it Bleed sessions.

Mandolin Orange out late Sept.
