2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Antonio Forcione Sketches of Africa (Antastic Ltd) CD
Has he? Always thought extremely overrated! But, whatever makes you tick!
For me, Antonio Forcione is one of the most gifted acoustic guitarists. I have most of his albums but I think the 'Live' album really shows off his skill and musicianship. Don't know if you have a streamer but the 'Live' album is on Tidal. Tony2011, give this one a whirl before you finally write off this wonderful artist as 'extremely overrated'. If, after a listen to this, you still feel the same then I do of course accept we are all different with different tastes.
Boy, I wish I could play the guitar like Mr Forcione, I would be very a happy bunny.

He is fantastic live, seen him a couple of times now.

His best solo album and an all great record.

Hi Nigel, I have streamed, Tidal HF, most of Mr Forcione's music and sadly I'm not engulfed by his music and his playing abilities. There's no soul, no oomph in his playing. Anyone can play an acoustic guitar but very feel can actually make it "soulful" if you know what I mean. There is something missing when he "plays".
Not for me, I'm afraid. Sorry!
Fair enough. When it comes to appreciation of an artist, no one can be right or wrong.

Boston - Boston
Some good old American Rock

Depeche Mode - Construction Time Again

Kickstart Sunday. The NDX TT 250DR really delivering that 'being there' feel.

Gentle Giant - Octopus
Great music......Great cover art

Terrific dynamic range on this recording.
Good prompt, Tony. Haven't played that on my main system in yonks (doesn't really count listening to it in the car). It's got some delightful delicacy mixed with real oomph.

Haven't quite had my fill...more playing now.

This particular CD has 57 minutes worth of music (3 pieces) extracted from their iconic Warsaw concert.
One of my favourite live TD albums. The remastered 2CD edition from Esoteric has 5 tracks including the 4 minute "Rare Bird" encore from this concert. Unfortunately it's at the end of CD1 but is not a problem if you're streaming and can re-tag the track numbers to play the setlist in the correct order.

Greenslade - Bedside Manners Are Extra
Inspiration from a previous post. Not played this in ages, forgot how good this was.
1977 Japanese vinyl compilation. We just fancied a Bond-age session... ![]()

I've been enjoying this alot over the past few months, they are back to the style of their first two releases, the opener on this is a real cracker and sets the tone for an album that continues to grow on me.

Grace Jones - Nightclubbing

Ivan Moravec was incapable of playing a note, any note, that was anything less than beautiful -- not just superficially beautiful but truly beautiful, bone deep, soul deep, "truth is beauty and beauty truth" beautiful. And when he strings each note, each lustrous pearl of a note, into phrases which sing and sigh and cry, each phrase becomes more beautiful even than each individual note. And when each phrase is joined in bliss with harmony, and then form, and then into a single luminous whole, then each work becomes an act of love and, not incidentally, as perfect a recording of a Chopin Nocturne as we are likely to hear in this world or the next. (AllMusic Review by James Leonard)

Dusko Gojkovic (trumpet) Raymond Droz (alto horn) Christian Kellens (baritone horn) Derek Humble (alto saxophone) Karl Drevo (tenor saxophone) Francy Boland (piano) Jimmy Woode (bass) Kenny Clarke (drums) recorded Cologne, West Germany, May 18 & 19, 1961, engineer Wolfgang Hirschmann.
Music Matters 33rpm reissue of one the rarest of all Blue Note albums.

Have a cd of this an it is a great album
CD. Because I do love a Haydn string quartet of a Sunday afternoon.

Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast
The suns out, beer in hand....nothing better than some rock music to go with it.

Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks
24/96 Flac

With the magnificent Jaco Pastorius.
