What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Streaming Qobuz 16/44.1/MBA/A2+/Hugo/HD800.
I'm doing a chronological tour from the origins of rock. Before I had some early Dylan and Beatles.

Third Eye Blind. Eponymous debut on CD from 1997. Quite the brilliant debut and I think the album, relatively modern in my music holdings, stands the test of time almost 20 years since its release.
An unappropriate cover, but good big band music...

His first full album release after a series of EPs he is tagged variously as playing progressive metal, rock, jazz fusion possesing a wonderful ethereal style and a great touch. One of Bandcamp's most popular artists this instrumental album is very much worth a listen.

Delbert McClinton. I'm With You. On CD from 1990. Goodness! An outstanding blues rock album, oozing with soul and PRaT top to bottom. For a guy with a 20+ studio album discography, Delbert is the best 'least-known' Texas rocker I can think of.

Thanks for the heads up Randy, Tidal have sixteen of his albums so I'll be having a listen.

Alvin Lee's fine debut solo album originally released on Vinyl in '73 it took thirty two years before it was reissued and released on CD.
"On The Road To Freedom is considered by many to be the finest Alvin Lee "solo" album (meaning without Ten Years After). The pairing with Mylon LeFevre works surprisingly well, and the album is replete with talented guest artists, including George Harrison (credited as Hari Georgeson), Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Jim Capaldi, and Mick Fleetwood. Those who consider A Space In Time to be the best TYA album will likely enjoy this one as well. It is more "laid back" than much of Alvin Lee's work with TYA, and is comparable in significant ways to the follow-up Alvin Lee album In Flight. The Alvin Lee web site has cited legal difficulties as the reason for the overly long delay in the release of this album on CD." ~ Amazonian Comment

This is another good one Ewemon. I'm sure the Allman Brothers, Warren Haynes, ect were big influences.

Apart from a few sections where the choir is just too much for the recording equipment - it is fantastic music !!!

No new material on this one, instead eight tracks recorded live at the Shangiri-La studios in Malibu where the old Les Paul is sounding wonderful.

Very Nice CD..Cheap as Chips on the river.

Bit of trance rock from the originator, IMHO.
Naim rip.
What a wonderful voice this woman had. I never listened to her while she was alive, but I'm glad I've discovered her now.

Cassandra Wilson - Glamoured
I am forever indebted to an old girlfriend.

Some trance blues with added brass and banjo...............shouldn't work, but it does................big time!
A standout album, IMHO.

Last one of the evening...............I've posted this before, but you really do need to give this a listen.
Some of the most hypnotic trance guitar ever, great songs, atmospheric desert blues.
