2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Villagers - Where Have You Been All My Life?
Exquisite.
The interplay between the guitars of Greg Leisz & Bill Frisell on this track in particular (and the whole album really) is fantastic

Is that the new Kylie album?
well recorded too

Yes I think the guitar playing and particularly the interplay really lifts the album to a very high level.

What's your verdict on this Steve? I bought the vinyl, listened a couple of times and haven't done so again. I was disappointed, but perhaps I should try again.

Tellurian by Soen
Progressive, melodic and haunting rock by a band I have been enjoying for a year or so.

I had similar feelings when I first bought it Clive. I thought I'd have another listen today and quite enjoyed it. I think one of the problems with this kind of album is the differing production as the tracks were taken from different sessions making it sound a little disjointed when going from one track to the next, but there's still some good music to be enjoyed.
Unfortunately I never found a decent copy of this on vinyl but it still sounds mighty good on this CD rip.
This is a really excellent new(ish) album, with astonishing sound quality.

Red House here is fantastic!

Steve, I have the Island pink "i", not eye ball, A2 B2 pressing and it is pretty good although not exceptional.

I have never seen this before. Will be looking to see if there is a CD version available. It looks like it could be very interesting from the cover.
Found it and it is on its way.
Simon.
Simon, the concert comprises of music from their first two albums - Dummy and Portishead. There's also a video of the performance and the band were at their best in those days. Needless to say Miss Gibbons is the star of the show. Marvellous!
The CD arrived today, 1st listen and 7 tracks in and I am liking it very much. Beth Gibbons voice is amazing. This concert works really well. Thanks for the heads up Tony.

You're welcome. Enjoy it!

Purchased today (Kevin's got a brand new CD). Jaw-dropping funk, from JB's miracle year of 1970:

Yes - Relayer [SACD]
Some impressive guitar work on "The Gates of Delirium"
Rush, A Farewell To Kings, 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo. A bit of a hard day so a quick play of probably the first Rush album that got me hooked and a couple of cold bottles of San Miguel to relax
Rush, Moving Pictures, 2015 24 bit version, which is superb, via Audirvana/Hugo. Last album before bed
