2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
First this.....

....then this.....

.....and finally this....

Why I went from Eva Cassidy, to Leonard Cohen and then to Cyrille Aimee, heaven only knows. Very enjoyable though.

Old but also ageless. The opening line, Looking For Someone, instantly hooks me every time.

That opening lyric has always grabbed me the same way too.

Felt like some Doc Watson.

Leaving behind most of that baggage from their debut and follow ups this forth album brings a more full-on sound with some ass-kicking tracks. That's more like it!
If you like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, you'll definitely like this album.

Polan'd finest. We were not at all amused when the founding member / guitarist suddenly passed away this year....
A great album from Riverside.

1969 - Original vinyl...
A little quiet(ish) night music.

The Commodores, Love Songs, got back from a lovely, slightly boozy weekend with friends in Harrogate, where we saw an excellent blues rock band, to find this waiting for me courtesy of eBay. Bought to replace my rather worn copy. So far sounds ok but probably needs a clean, not bad for £3 plus postage. Vinyl

2016 - Tidal...

no words to described how profoundly touching this album really is...
A masterpiece.

(1999)
A chilled start to this lovely early autumn day with some Air singles collected between '95 and '97.

Sound like I'll have to stop by the local store tomorrow and pick up a copy.
Tidal - First listen - some difficult stretches, some much easier, overall positive. Probably helped by listening in the sun room on a lovely morning.

UK first press, I remember buying this in January '77 as a schoolboy. About two weeks' pocket money IIRC. This is very battered - even a lengthy blast in the RCM couldn't fix the frying eggs noise on side two, or the big scratch in the vocodered barking bit of "Dogs". Fortunately I have a late 70s UK Harry Moss and a pristine early '80s Japanese as well, but I am attached to this particular object for sentimental reasons...
