Dan Arborise - Of Tide and Trail

Sixth time in three days. Can a man have too much pleasure from recorded music at home?

Just finished helping son to move out (again), knucking fackered, cursor stopped Billy so it's this one:-

Final groove of Hooker for this afternoon, just a four track EP, which includes a duet with John Hammond Jnr. on "Drifting' Blues"..........brilliant.

Since I mentioned John Hammond Jnr above.........................why not?

Great blues album, always worth a listen.

A+ | 24/48 FLAC

Brussels, Belgium 3/3/16 (Live) by All Them Witches

There now appear to be two versions of this album. I downloaded this one (album cover above) from Bandcamp on 20/3/16 shortly after it was released; 24/48 FLAC with 12 tracks and a 95 minute run time. Today I have somehow managed to accidentally download a re-release of this album not due out until 16th September. It is in 16/44.1 FLAC, has a slightly different running order, two additional tracks and a different album cover.

I'm slightly confused as to how/why I was allowed to download it and indeed why this release seems to be replacing the higher resolution original which has now disappeared off their site on Bandcamp?

Anyway on with the show and I'm listening to the first half of the original live album in 24/48.

John Fogerty - The Long Road Home in Concert.

Raw Mississippi Blues, followed by more of the same from Ian Siegal & Jimbo Mathus.

Nothing polished or fancy about either of these....................just a group of fine musicians sitting down and grinding it out.............superb!

Hot Buttered Soul (1969 UK first press 4-track stereo LP on the yellow Stax label, opening with the blissful twelve minute interpretation of Walk On By (a psychedelic soul staple that inspired a similar downbeat funk version by Tony Cody a few years later.

I've been meaning to get this for a while, and finally downloaded it today. It's really very good, with some interesting new takes on studio tracks I know well.

Featured regularly on here, this Robert Johnson influenced album never fails to please.

One track, "Am I Wrong" is, additionally, a wonderful "test the system" tune, .................well recorded, with great dynamics.........a real "in the room" feeling.

Should have waited for the high res version I now had a DVDs and cd version when it first came out, or I have to check perhaps it's even a different concert, which would be great...just checked same concert....

I got this from Qobuz. It's 24 bit 48k. I think it sounds ok but only one of my ears is working so it's hard to tell!!

The last album to feature Lowell George, who by this time had become somewhat marginalised from the rest of the band.

Nevertheless, his vocals have never been better, his five songs are great, and this album fully deserves to considered as being up there with some of their earlier respected works, IMHO.

Underrated late-period Dame, on vinyl. Includes one of his best songs, "Bring Me The Disco King":

Underrated follow up to "Welcome" and one of my favourite jazz-rock era Santana albums. HiRes (24/96) download from Qobuz.
