2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Next:

John Paul White - "Beulah" (2016)
Listening to this after reading a review in an old magazine, it's different from some of the others I have so interesting.... I still however like the rawness of the last Wispelwey one...

Joseph Arthur - "The Family" (2016)
Aerosmith live at Download, recorded from Sky Arts and rather excellent it is too. Saw these a few times, including one excellent all day gig at Wembley with the Stereophonics, Three Colours Red, Lenny Kravitz and the Blakc Crowes and they have always been excellent. If you like them then this is well worth hunting down should Sky Arts show it again.
David Hazeltine Trio with George Mraz (bass) and Billy Drummond (drums) playing Bud Powell compositions.

First spin:
Bought this as a sentimental purchase since it was their last concert, and I have a ton of ABB CDs, and it has turned out to be excellent musically - I have listened to it numerous times in the month I have owned it.

Highly recommended...

"This is the analogue counterpart to Aphelion, which was recorded using mainly digital instruments. This nicely showcases the two sides to Arcane's Tangerine Dream inspired music." - A Discogs commenter

Joe Jackson. Look Sharp! On original vinyl from 1979. I've had this for 30 years on the original 1986 CD blindly loving it. This year I stumbled upon the LP to find out how much nicer it sounds. Either format, it is a stellar debut album.

Interesting ambient electronica downloaded from bandcamp, best broken into small chunks as the album runs to two hours and forty minutes.
"Aural Films welcomes the newest release by Tim Kays. Who returns with another fascinating excursion into the mysterious world of weather "Phenomena." Hear a collection of music inspired by the measurement, observation, analysis, and study of events in the invisible ocean we know as.. the atmosphere."

The Who. It's Hard. On original vinyl from 1982. Snippets of "Eminence Front" has been sold to various TV ads in the US lately and hearing those made me want to hear the original - one of my favorite Who tracks.

Featured regularly on here, this Robert Johnson influenced album never fails to please.
One track, "Am I Wrong" is, additionally, a wonderful "test the system" tune, .................well recorded, with great dynamics.........a real "in the room" feeling.

Calling it psychedelic krautrock doesn't really cover it but does give an idea of this good album and their style. Same nationality and record label as Goat, they will be at the Liverpool Psych fest on the 23rd.
