Benedetti/Husa: Bruch Violin Concerto  2010 recording

Expressive from the start, she takes a long breath on the first note like taking a deep breath. The balance between the orchestra and soloist is excellent they play as a coherent whole. Her Bruch recording rose to the top of my favourite when I first heard it and still love it.

Jansen/Chailly: Bruck Violin Concerto  2006 recording

I place this set behind Benedetti. I think she's emotionally cooler and there seems to be imbalance between the orchestra and soloist as they are doing their own things rather than playing sympathetically to one another.

My top of the list for this one is still Nigel Kennedy...

Still not sure whether Bruch's first merits more than a single recording, but I was rather blown away last year by Antje Weithaas' new recording on CPO.

Some highlights, so looks like he has a lot of potential...., while a bit overhyped...

The recording has by the way a strange faint background noise...

Ripped from original Columbia CD which sounds very good indeed, so much so that I have never bothered with a 24bit download.
