What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

But he's not writing for 55 year olds. My 18 year old son loves it. I'd have been horrified when I was 18 if my dad had liked The Stranglers. As it should be.
I didn't like The Stranglers either when I was 18. You should have listened to your dad, Nigel. ![]()

Budgie - In For The Kill On CD
I first discovered this in the 80s and love it just as much today.

Today's arrival, first spin.

It is my second disc from the Japanese M&I label having the same problem. It sounds fine through the Nait and the Alpine radio in the car but horrible on the Mac after being uploaded to my iTunes.

David Bowie - Stage On CD
Not played this for a while forgot how much I liked it.

Listening to this now but it is coming out later this year as a SACD, not sure if it is going to be a Hybrid disc yet.

Brilliant album, on vinyl...

On vinyl...

Tidal - continuing the prog discovery excursion - interesting.
I found this needs many listens to appreciate. But it is worth it! The Raven is more accessible yet still a very very good progressive rock album, with some exceptional guitar playing from Guthrie Govan.
About 234,236,469,905.00. Nah. Don't waste your time! It's all an illusion. Cool cover. That's how they got your attention. The music is actually mediocre!

First listen. Willie Watson - Folk Singer Vol 1.
(2014) CD
Debut solo album from a former member of Old Crow Medicine Show. Produced by Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch, so a familiar sound. He appears with Dave R. & Gillian W. on "Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis" on the tracks 'Midnight Special' and 'I Hear Them All/This Land Is Your Land'.
Yaz - Upstairs At Eric's
(1982) CD
First heard this in college in the late 80's, Been a favorite ever since.
Now: A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
(1991) CD
I'm digging the Willie Watson album and long live Phife Dawg

(2012) CD

Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, Good way to start a Sunday morning.
On Vinyl

Nice start to Sunday.

Hmm well .... that's 7 for, 1 against so far. I'm reserving judgement until giving it a few more blasts (not 234,236,469,905.00 though). I will admit that, being the shallow person that I am, I was drawn to this initially by the stunning cover art ![]()
Sunday morning coffee and some chilled Bob wav

Rather like Marmite then. But I honestly think this is worth the effort.
So what's it to be today? More Mr Wilson? Or maybe you're ready for some Yes now?

Clive, in my book it's still far to early for prog (especially on Sunday for heavens sake !). Something more suitable for now. Some more Mr Wilson later I think - ("Raven" is tee'd up on Tidal following your recommendation). Cheers N.
