David Hazeltine Trio:  Cleopatra's

It is a long story but someday when my ship comes in and I am able to buy my first Porsche 911 (my dream car), this music may be among the first played and hopefully Cleopatra is beside me as well and not just in my dreams.

First this.......

....this.....

....some of this.....

....this.....

......and finally this...

There you go, folk, celtic, country, bluegrass, soul and R&B in one sitting. An eclectic and obscure mix, some great music nonetheless. What a nice way to relax on a Sunday evening.

Why? Why not.

There're all on Tidal.

So far today ...

(2015) CD

This is my first recording by Veronique Gens.  Such a beautiful voice, which feels like a bit of an understatement.

Followed by ...    Jerry Garcia & David Grisman -  So What

(1998) HDCD

Now ...    Wild Flag  -  Wild Flag

(2011)   CD

Picking up the pace so can get off the couch and get on the mountain bike.

Really good old Purple before Messrs. Gillan and Glover joined the band.

Nice sunny day, but cloudy. So this Japanese first press vinyl from 1973 seems appropriate:

Costing a dear $24.73 in 1973. Hope it is special.

IIRC, I paid about £15 for it in the late 1980s, Haim. Absolutely mint, so a bargain - especially as it's one of the very best-sound Japanese vinyl Floyd albums (and I have them all, up to and including 1983's The Final Cut and Works, on Jap vinyl)...

I'm really enjoying this on Tidal. The 1971 Paris Theatre concert is excellent, and it's interesting to hear the Led Zeppelin IV songs played live before the album was released. It's lovely to hear the band before they became heavier as they went on. Some of the songs have a real delicacy. Just super.

Why? Because this is a belter!

It's on Tidal.

Tidal - continuing the prog discovery excursion - interesting.

I found this needs many listens to appreciate. But it is worth it! The Raven is more accessible yet still a very very good progressive rock album, with some exceptional guitar playing from Guthrie Govan.

About 234,236,469,905.00. Nah.  Don't waste your time! It's all an illusion. Cool cover. That's how they got your attention. The music is actually mediocre!

Hmm well .... that's 7 for,  1 against so far.  I'm reserving judgement until giving it a few more blasts (not 234,236,469,905.00 though).  I will admit that, being the shallow person that I am, I was drawn to this initially by the stunning cover art

I keep persevering with the album on the basis that I'll eventually 'get it'. I'm more appreciative on my more recent listenings but, boy, if this is a 'grower' it demands more persistence that most.

Could it be the case that it's simply a bad record? There is persevering because an album is challenging, and there's trying to like something even though it's not likeable.

And after Led Zep something completely different. Nice reproduction on this CD.

Tanita Tikaram - Closer to the People

It has to be different to the old stuff, and thankfully it is. Definitely a grower.

Rush, Live in St Louis, which is an unofficial bootleg double album and one of the best live Rush albums I've ever heard, recorded in 1980 with them at the peak of their powers it covers most of 2112 along with Permanent Waves and tracks of the first three albums.  Superb.  Original vinyl

Very pleasant ambient electronic music for this time of night, from bandcamp.

"This is the stereo master of the original score for Adler Planetarium's new feature "Planet Nine". The music was initially made using modular and analog synthesis for use in the Grainger Sky Theater's incredibly sophisticated surround sound system. If you find yourself in Chicago, be sure to check it out."
