Time to wheel these boys out for an airing.
On Vinyl
Great music, well played...
Inspired by a documentary about Jaap van Zweden. In this episode he had Isaac Stern as solo player....

Till full of character.
This was a great tour with a real good and larger band. Only thing is he didn't play much guitar on this tour, but Lyle Workman handling the guitar work is not exactly a bad thing either. Vince Welnick was in this band as well.
Suk/Ancerl/Czeck Philharmonic Orchestra: Bruch & Mendelssohn Violin Concerto 1964 recording
Suk's style seems to be better suited for more lyrical tunes like Mendelssohn than hard and bold Beethoven Concerto. No match for Oistrakch or sassy Chung, but much more impassioned than a cold fish Jansen.
Kempff/Van Kempen/Berliner: Beethoven Piano Concerto No.4 1953 recording
Kempff gets the pain and loneliness of the composer behind the tune. Such a simple rendition yet emotionally potent. Overall orchestration is not particularly rhythmic compared to his later recording with Leitner but it's always a pleasure to listen to Kempff's creative cadenza.
Seems a lot is not working this morning. I wanted to listen to Dream Theaters Astonishing via Tidal during my workout this morning. However Internet was down in my house. So I listened to Batik and Max Roach. By now internet works again and I wanted to publish what I listened to with the album art. Now photobucket has maintenance so no artwork....
Batik is a great audiophile album, often mentioned here. The Max Roach album was also enjoyable.
now switched to Listzt with Michael Korstick - a special musician...
So now listening to the Astonishing for the 1st fine. Photobucket is still down, so sorry guys no artwork. First impressions so far feeling of Scenes of a Memory but less raw, more rounded. Interesting and intriguing so far.
Bon Iver - Bon Iver . WAV CD rip. Seems to suit the mood in a currently stormy Scotland.
Hanne Boel : via Tidal. Great SQ.
Visit this one quite often - still not purchased yet - the Tidal dilemma ......

First time I have heard any Jon Hopkins, this was his debut and its pretty good melodic electronica with enough to keep you listening

Giving this giving this go via Tidal at the moment - exactly as you describe Stevee - good recommendation again - thanks ! Unfortunately only seems to be available in AAC format via Tidal - but still sounds pretty reasonable through the Muso.

Is a good album. While some hardcore Dream Theater fans might miss a bit the rawness of the music and it's perhaps a bit on the long side. While I had Dream Theater always on my NAS as Progressive Metal this album is more of Progressive Rock...
This time also excellent vocals of James LaBrie...
Now Listening to an Album from Mack Avenue Superband - Live from the Detroit Jazz Festival, very pleasant...

I am just checking this out as well. Quite the chill out music. Thanks for recommending this. Not for all day - but for sometimes.
