2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

1972 - Tidal...
More funk/jazzy than the usual Santana. Be prepared for the monolithic Free Form Funkafide Filth clocking up over 24 minutes of pure indulgence.
No wonder people were doing drugs in those days!![]()

On orange vinyl...
Peter Gabriel - Us - Vinyl Remastered 2016
Resuming my listening session from yesterday evening (in reverse order of release date);

Honest and straightforward jazz, with a nice airy sound...

Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night On CD
Metronomy - Nights Out
Thinking of opening a cold one to stop me revving after all the coffee.
C.
1993 - Tidal...
A little swingy funky jazz to open up the apetite before dinner time.

Depeche Mode - Violator On CD

Playing this masterpiece again! I guess this is the effect of having it on vinyl at last after X years (where X is too many to write here). I tried to buy this when I was at school, but couldn't get a copy that would play on my BSR turntable. Eventually I bought it on pre-recorded cassette. Then in the CD era, bought the original CD release. Then the remastered CD (which is actually quite good). Then last year I bought a copy of the new 180g vinyl release, which is extremely good indeed. I think this is one of the finest albums of rock music ever.
On CD:-

Ok, not brilliant..

Neu - Neu 75 On CD
Peter Gabriel - So - Vinyl Remastered - Sounding very good !!! Never had a vinyl copy from it.
At his best even if I prefer in some ways and different reasons his earlier albums.

Love that album. Indeed I think it might be her best.
Much better, as what I had before...

Some more Mary Black this evening. This is one of her more recent albums. I enjoy these but not quite as much as her earlier work.

On vinyl...

A performance of Mendelssohn's 1st that won me over to this work after getting to know it through Perahia's rather uninspired recording for CBS/Sony.
Cheers,
EJ

On original vinyl...

CD rip.
Big Big Train, English Electric Full Power. This Band first came to my attention on this forum, a post by JN if I recall correctly. This is really good prog.

This is the only Tori Amos album I own and it is a cracker.
