2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Nirvana. Nevermind (1991). On Pallas vinyl Bernie Grundman remaster from 2009. Commanding as the album is on original CD this vinyl remaster digs a greater depth, power and immediacy to the passion and energy of the performances. Among my treasured LPs.

The mellow 'Morning Phase' will do nicely
New album from Beck due in October. Looking forward to his latest musical stylings. Announced today that vinyl re-issues of Odelay, Sea Change, and Guero are available for pre-sale.

Paul McCartney. Flowers In The Dirt. On DMM vinyl from 1989. Typical for Macca, an album ranging in style and touching on several musical genres. pop, rock, and folk, finishing with this electronica gem ...

Very apt Randy, a Tidal newsletter dropped into my inbox informing me amongst other things that it was 25 years ago to the day that this iconic album was released. I don't know if you will find this link about their development interesting?
*Edit. I now notice that you have started a threat on this very subject but will I leave this link in for you.

Paul McCartney. Flaming Pie. On CD from 1997. McCartney has released 35 studio albums since he disbanded the Beatles. I'd consider this among his five finest, and maybe the most Beatle-esque.
Listening in to the new Kansas, first songs sound pretty decent..

(1975)
Mention of him in another thread prompted me to give this great album a play for the first time in a very long while.
Sampling this one, seems interesting while I haven't heard the full album...

Lloyd Cole - Music in a Foreign Language
Poetic, introspective, without the big choruses, generally low-key, and easily overlooked. Wrongly imo. Now, where's my white shirt, my oldest jeans... and my moka pot?
C.

Have just been given this by a very dear friend for my birthday. On vinyl too! A true friend! I didn't know them at all but they are delightful. Very english poppy/folky/rock. I urge you to explore. This will be replayed many times in the coming days.
Sampling this, even while I am not so into period instruments - quite special..

1975 - Original vinyl...
A little folk music on this lovely Saturday morning and the ever faultless Ms Prior, who must have one of the greatest voices in this great land of ours.

Bayreuth Return is a masterpiece of electronica.
Another blast from the past...

1982 - Original vinyl...
Who would believe Mary Hopkin does the melismatic - I know, had to google it myself - vocals on Rachel's Song?

My all time favourite SF movie and the soundtrack is just so much part of the whole atmosphere. A masterpiece!
