2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

I don't play this often as its not their best, not by a long chalk but it certainly sounds very good in 24bit.
Counting Crows "Across A Wire: Live In New York City" disc 1 (acoustic)
Bought this last weekend, great album

2112, by the almighty Rush, because it's Friday night and I can. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo helped along with a nice cold Cubra Libre
Grace Jones "Nightclubbing"
Vinyl...
Jack Johnson "Sleep Through The Static"

Expressive from the start, she takes a long breath on the first note like taking a deep breath. The balance between the orchestra and soloist is excellent they play as a coherent whole. Her Bruch recording rose to the top of my favourite when I first heard it and still love it.
My top of the list for this one is still Nigel Kennedy...
Still not sure whether Bruch's first merits more than a single recording, but I was rather blown away last year by Antje Weithaas' new recording on CPO.

WOW!
I was blown away too.
BP.
Walter Trout, Battle Scars, excellent blues rock, highly recommended. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Antje Weithaas is the one from Arcanto String Quartett right?
Curious to hear her solo effort.
Highly recommended 6 track ep from 2012. Brilliant for late night listening. Wondered why I haven't played it in so long.

One of my favorites as a teen. Played it hundreds of times, maybe in the first year alone. Going to pull it out for a spin this weekend.
Paul McCartney & Wings. Band On The Run (1973). 25th Anniversary Edition on 2CD from 1999. Among McCartney's best albums and one I feel very familiar with. I'm tinkering with my TT and doing a little simultaneous back and forth between this and the original vinyl. Each format has its merits with the CD offering some deeper insights to the mix.
On CD:-
Pink Floyd. Echoes. On 2CD from 2001. Nice enough compilation, but for me it's a bit unsettling to hear PF's songs presented in a random order. Kind of a groove killer.
Backhaus/Schmidt-Isserstedt/VPO: Beethoven Piano Concerto No.4 1958 recording
For old world chunky granite like Beethoven coupled with precision and lyricism, Backhaus' Beethoven is still very relevant today.
Here he offers his own lively cadenza for Rondo but more straight forward and comes off superficial than Kempff's.
Great while in lower quality..
