2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

1975 - Original vinyl...

White Stripes, Elephant.............again, LOUD!
Second album on, following an entire system re-build this afternoon,
...............sounding great!
Roger Waters - Amused To Death on vinyl. Some excellent music which builds into a superb album. Great reproduction from this vinyl edition. Really quiet.

Followed by my favourite Adam Carroll album but I could have chosen any of his studio albums.
Currently enjoying this recommendation Ewemon - another new artist for me. Cheers N.

Because they were a great band and this is a great album being played loud.

Good to see some Klaus Schulz being played here Dave, I was going to play this one this morning but went for a live album of his instead.
Seems to be much love out there this afternoon for the White Stripes, so, in a similar vein................this..................LOUD!

1980 - Original vinyl...

1986 - Tidal...
The darlings of the British Goth scene. More pop than goth really. Still, some tracks do put a smile on your face.

On with more excellent stuff in a similar vein to Tool. No problem with the volume knob as this is getting it to the max. ![]()

Brilliant album, so that's two of us, so far, who "get it". ![]()
I really should explore a bit more of the YES back catalogue (not a great prog rock fan though...) but this is still a great album.

Seem to be in a LOUD frame of mind so far this evening.

That's a truly fantastic compilation of their earlier singles, though they'd never accept the goth categorisation, and I'd agree with them.

Intrigued by Ewemon's recommendation of Sean Pinchin's Monkey Brain, I found this on Tidal and it is superb. A musician I am unfamiliar with, but I intend to put that right.
Great shout Ewemon - yet again.

Back in the day I can not recall having read in the music press - like NME and Melody Maker any interview with the Cure regarding their popularity with Goths. You could write books about popular and alternative cultures and how tribes take to certain artists.
It was the in thing to wear black skinny jeans with white basketball sneakers with the tongues sticking out ala bobs individual dash of a figure, with the essential black dyed back comed hair and eye liner. Goths proper took this to another level.

Shelby Lynne - "Revelation Road" (deluxe version) (2011)

First run, on the BDP-2
Cheers

Earlier this evening...

The joy of playing music can be easily heard on this album....

Still in a LOUD mood, so what better than this, top Japanese percussionists...................seriously cranked up................the neighbours are out for the evening! ![]()
