2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Queen, A Kind of Magic, I used to love the film and this is an excellent soundtrack that fitted it to perfection. Sounds rather wonderful tonight too for some reason. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Nils new album 'Bouyancy' released earlier this month
on my second very enjoyable listen. Modernist jazz/fusion with haunting rasping trumpet, dynamic drumming & a guitar sliding here and there... much of the composition in the atmospherical style of Pink Floyd (wywh)
Very Recommended, my only complaint it it's only 20 minutes a side, i want more! : )
The free download comes with a extra track but i haven't heard it yet...

A superb recital. Love the Beethoven variations especially.

Not much loved by some others at the time but I've always enjoyed this one.

Blowing away the morning cobwebs with this excellent collaboration between four fine musicians (Mike Portnoy and John Petrucci of Dream Theater together with bassist Tony Levin and Jordan Rudess on keys)
Changesonebowie - a new copy bought today on heavy vinyl. Still my favourite Bowie compilation. Some great songs. So far the reissue sounds much clearer than my original vinyl, and I'm hearing a lot more detail than I've heard before.
Rachel Podger and Bach - perfect. This is a lovely new recording on Channel Classics.

Paul Simon - Stranger to Stranger - on vinyl. Was reduced today at my local HMV. Good music, but struggle to see this was a brand new, unused copy. Covered in dust and other crap including a lump of fluff that looked like it had come of the end of a needle when the arm was lifted. Cleaned with RCM but it may still go back.
Enjoying the music, some clever tracks, and some typical Paul Simon and a nice mix of styles!
Three tracks from Drive-By Truckers upcoming new album on Tidal. First listen - sounds pretty good.

Not played this for ages. Great to relax to at the end of a working day and the excellent SQ is a bonus.
I had just started school when this was released.

Nice to kick back to this one, those Union Station boys certainly now how to get the best from their instruments.

This is waking me up nicely, as I was feeling a bit tired. Very lively, and very loud and uplifting, maybe compression, but the gear is sorting out the different strands very well. Tony Levin is one of my favorite musicians, the other guys are also showing amazing virtuosity.
Was thinking of Waking up to this tomorrow morning on Qute alarm setting, but there again....
Liquid Tension is now on my Tidal albums list.

Great music for auditioning new kit ![]()

Something else to softly enjoy and relax with, the voice of the delightful Mary Black.
