2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Funnily enough I was listening to a rip of the Classic Records vinyl version of this earlier

For me a real opportunity missed only the Joe Henry trax save it from being a very poor effort.

2016 - Tidal...
A lot heavier and darker than their previous albums. The opening track is just a taste of things to come on the remaining tracks. The heavy guitar and anger reminds me of Freedom (the album) by Neil Young. Solid lyrics and music confirming their place as one of Americas best band at the moment.

Totally agree Tony.

I am listening to this on Tidal and realised I used to own it and what a fine album it is.
Some albums just seem to slip through your fingers and all you need is a gentle reminder. Thanks winky. (BTW my autocorrect keeps insisting I change 'winky' to 'wonky'. I have put my foot down however).

It's the 25th anniversary of this (moderately) significant (or perhaps just "interesting") record. It is actually quite good.

A band from Texas specializing in Thai-influenced funk. Fantastic.
Thats an interesting sounding genre Joe! I've found and added it in Tidal for anon thanks.
i hope you like it, Stevee -- i'm really digging it: mellow, cinematic, distinctive.
2014 - Vinyl...
Seriouly talented guy.

Streaming, because I can't be bothered to keep getting up to turn over vinyl this evening ![]()

Superb bass player. Check out more of her work with Jeff Beck
She has never sounded better can't wait for the LP!
Neil Young and Crazy Horse: Live Rust Why? It's Neil freaking Young!
Foo Fighters: There is Nothing Left to Lose Why? It just felt right.
Dead Can Dance: Toward the Within. Why? Nostalgia for how freaking amazing Chris Koster's active DBLs sounded in that old house on Prospect Street. Absolutely stupendous.
Tidal. Very pleasant start to a sunny Sunday morning.

Cheers
EJ
Beautiful sunday morning!
Love - Forever Changes MFSL 45 rpm version. Loving this.
Tidal. It's a little early for prog in my book but everyone's gone out so a chance for a loud blast. Great album.

Just right for a Sunday morning, with the autumn sun streaming through the window and a nice cup of coffee.

That's strange; I was thinking the very same thing, having just lowered the stylus on Robert Plant's 'Picture At Eleven'. Just a bit different!
Borders Nick posted:Yesterday's bargain arrival (thanks Clive). CD rip. Sounding very nice indeed.
I'm glad you like it. I am completely hooked by that second track, 'Contemplation', but that's not to detract from the album as a whole, which is thoroughly absorbing. A bit different to your prog journey!
Next act, with old vinyl form grandparents... ;-))

Yesterday evening a bit too avantgarde in my opinion, but I will have a couple of other spins...
