2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Enjoying this one (thanks Ewen) it has the sort of lyrics that James McMurtry might write but incorporated into a rock band's sound.
It's on heavy rotation here Steve - car and house. Some great tracks & McMurty-ish lyrics as you say.

(1985)
Playing a bit of old Marillion because for the moment I'm struggling to get on with their new release.

k.d. lang - "Watershed" (2008)

Chillin' on a late sunny Yorkshire afternoon..................a most relaxing album. ![]()

Kauan's excellent 4 minute cover of Pink Floyd's Breathe, well worth a listen IMO and free to download here in 24/44.1
Then on to another very, very good Floyd cover, the best I have ever heard in fact. You can listen to Crippled Black Phoenix covering Echoes (Parts 1 and 2 ) here on bandcamp

If we're talking Floyd covers, there's none better, or more bonkers than this one.
A great workout for the speakers.
Available on Tidal.

1978 - Original vinyl...
Feeling mellow...
Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club
I haven't played this album for years

Second hand Embassy vinyl &that replaced a pre-recorded cassette copy)

Why? I thought it was my turn for the blues.

Fabulous boot of two BBC sessions, this one fronted by the late great John Peel and is pretty much disc two of two from this 2 hour download. It sounds great and very vibrant and in your face much more so than than the eventual studio album that was to be Meddle.
Moving to another one, not difficult to enjoy this....

Hungryhalibut posted:I don't really know Hank Mobley's music, and that looks really good. I've found it on a four CD set of eight of his albums for £5.98: I'm sure the SQ won't be as good as yours, Kuma, but one can't say no at that price. I'm looking forward to their arrival.
Ever so low-key Hank Mobley will never be a house hold name like Coltrane or Parker but he was my new *discovery* out of MM reissue series.
He did not go outside of the boundaries but love his rhythmic sense ( he never gets H-E-A-V-Y ) as well as melodic sensitivity and colors he creates plus he's an excellent composer.
I particularly his early work where Parker's influence is easily heard on his playing.
Original vinyl

Why? I thought it time for some funk-flavoured Aussie rock.

Such a talented lady taken from us all at such a young age and before her career had a chance to flourish, and flourish it certainly would have.
Absolutely wonderful stuff.
2010 - Tidal...
Too lazy to look for the CD rip on the NAS. It's becoming quite common these days.
A little lazy blues from Washington DC. It is not always all southern, you know!![]()

On Vinyl

Chris Robley - "This Is The" (2005)
Enjoying this spectacular album, inspired by Borders Nick's recent prog journey.
Double vinyl (and for once it's clean vinyl - not something I've been able to say that often regarding K-Scope)
