2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Harry Allen is one of my favourite sax players, and this is a superb album, and a lovely recording too.

1971 - Original live vinyl...
Felt like listening to Dear Mr Fantasy which is even better live. ![]()
Having a delve into some of my old favourite albums from my teens. I originally had this on vinyl and (as was the fashion at the time) kept a small spot lamp by the side of my (pre Linn days ) Heybrook TT2 to keep the cartridge warm. Unfortunately i left this LP on a stationary platter under the lamp and warped the outer edge. It sill played ok but with a distinct 'whoosh' as the stylus rode the warp 33⅓ times a minute - my brain still fills that 'whoosh' in whenever i listen to this album...

Michael Stanley - "The Soft Addictions" (2006)
Ninety Tayeb - Crazy
Check out the many versions of this on Youtube. This is my favourite.

On vinyl. Classic Records pressing.

George Harrison. Cloud Nine. On vinyl from 1987. Upbeat, fun, involving and probably George's solo album most reminiscent of his former band's sound.

Steely Dan. Katy Lied. On the original rainbow label ABC Records vinyl from 1975. I like Dan's earlier music and this, their fourth album, is right in the band's wheelhouse for my tastes. Superb SQ a given.

Southside Johnny And The Asbury Jukes. I Don't Want To Go Home. On vinyl from 1976. Quite an accomplished sound for a debut album and a stalwart for aficionados of the Jersey Shore Sound.
After 11.00 this will sound broken, but now it was still pretty good...

The Cars. Eponymous debut on original vinyl from 1978. Fresh and energetic music. Highly ranked on my list of stellar debut albums and despite playing this to death back in the day the LP still sounds superb.
From last night...

On vinyl...sounding much better now after the Keel and Krystal upgrade!

A+ | Transcoded DSD

(1968)
Something to calm the 'new product announcement' excitement (!) ...
A wonderful new recording by Christiane Karg and Romina Basso.

Seemed appropriate given all of the reimagining and discovering going on this morning

Inspired by a network issue...

Haven't played that for ages. Must dig it out soon.
