What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

A beautifully engineered mellow wind down album. The musicians have real presence in the room if your system is on song.

Onto something altogether more (traditionally) musical than my last choice.
Yello. 'Toy'.

The boys are as deliciously tongue-in-cheek as usual and provide us with a cracking hour of great new material - whilst remaining recognisably Yello. Equally as good as 'Touch' for me. I reckon the deluxe version of 'Toy' is worth getting for three very good bonus tracks.
A lovely recording/mastering job too. Someone has actually responded to a cry of 'Careful with that compressor Eugene". It's a snappy, spacious, dynamic and transparent beauty with some delightful splashes of basso-profundo.

Super review John, this new album has really hit the spot on every level and now it would seem so have the deluxe additional tracks.

Coming up next .............................ain't Tidal great?
Likee!

On vinyl...

Great sounding album, on vinyl...
I've become addicted to this one. Qobuz 24bit download.

On vinyl...

In a chillin' mood this evening, so, hugely recommended by others on here.................this.
I'm sure that as the evening unfolds, I'll get deeper into reggae / dub, but I'm more than happy to try out Tidal suggestions for anything I may not yet have heard. ![]()

2011 Verve Forecast CD

Back to mid 70s with Eno and Phil Manzanera in a short lived but enjoyable collaboration.

Perfectly captures my mood this evening...

1st listen to these two bargains found in a local Oxfam store for £1.50 each. I have Liquid Skin by Gomez so kind of knew what to expect, I actually think Bring it on could be better.
Ryan Adams was picked up as I have seen him come up on this thread a few times, so thought i'd give it a go. Very glad I did, it's an excellent album.

1968 - Tidal...
Curiosity got be better of me after listening to a track on the wireless. At first, I thought I was listening to some old lost tape by Bowie. Typical 60s troubadour and If you like Donavan you'll enjoy this. Can get a bit tiresome.

Bring It On is definitely the better album imho. There is not a single bad track in there.
Not a huge fan of RA but enjoy it.
First this.......

Then this.....

Why? Because they are both very fine albums in their own way.
PS - I believe Van is looking so unhappy as he is having to resort to a bit of a comb-over. It comes to many of us eventually. But Van, just get a short hair cut mate!
Rippped CD:
Otis Taylor - Truth is not fiction;
Sounds quality seems to lack of depth but really enjoying that recording.

Terry Reid Live at the Bottom Line.
