2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Sometim a artistic sometimes drive like Nil Bartsch, will need a couple of runs more, but believe the earlier stuff was more engaging. But the Paul Motion fans might like this more..

Just get again a number further and realize that I perhaps too harsh, there is a more artistic focus then the playful focus before, but still interesting to explore for many. Give it a try - for many it might be good.

(2015)

A quick blast of this little ten minute EP; excellent psychedelic space rock from the very good Yuri Gagarin. Another of theirs released in 24/48, j just the job to get the blood pumping along with the double espresso.

Delighted to say there are no disappointments with the new album which is once again well measured funky, psychedelic krautrock. Downloaded in 24/44.1 FLAC which was a pleasant surprise as there was no mention of it being in a slightly higher resolution when I pre-ordered. Have a try here on bandcamp.

Good, isn't it? A touch of Moon Duo in there too.

Yep, it is indeed Nick, I've had time for a few plays of it and it gets better and better. I'm delighted to say that they are building up a fine catalogue of work at the moment

Lucie Horsch in her debut recording of Vivaldi's well-known concertos for recorder, plus other original and transposed concertos. Great fun, and well played with a good balance between the virtuosic, and contemplative Vivaldi. Compared to Maurice Steger on a recent Harmonia Mundi recording, the interpretation by Horsch and family & friends (her father is principal cellist at the KCO and member of the Amsterdam Vivaldi Players) is warmer, less driven but in tune with current performing practices.

Wonderful EJ !
This CD is an achievement that is impressive considering she's only 17 years old, but also due to the level of understanding required to perform in such an interesting way.

Joan as Police Woman - To Survive

Why? That voice. That groove.

It moves between contemplative chamber jazz to energy driven by drums getting in the front, so far intriguing first listen...

This is a one of a massive Vivaldi series, and very good it is.

Instrumental music somewhere between jazz and rock, very enjoyable and recommended...

Jack White's Acoustic Recordings, on vinyl. All-analogue chain, apparently. First chance I've had to sit down and listen to it. Sounds mighty fine...

A largely covers album from Mr. Graveltone himself......................pretty good.

I'll probably continue in this vein with some Frankie Miller next, unless anyone can suggest an alternative in the meantime.

Progressive sounding metal that's heavy in parts, Dream Theater style percussion, story telling melodic vocals with good SQ suiting its release in 24/96 FLAC. Thank for the steer Bert its metal but a little bit different isn't it?

My other arrival today, ripped and having a play. Another very enjoyable forum recommendation. I've got to say this particular section of the forum is rapidly becoming a favourite read for me and a great source of inspiration, both in what to listen to and for discovering new music

Steve - used to have this, Sinsemilla, and Red all on ancient vinyl also (long gone unfortunately).  Giving this a run on Tidal now - very enjoyable .  Cheers N.

Another great British soul voice....................every bit as good as the aforementioned Mr. Rogers.........IMHO.

This is a great box set for anyone wishing to get into Frankie, as it covers just about everything.

Jack White, Lazaretto, the "Ultra" vinyl edition. Because I really enjoyed listening to the Acoustic Recordings LP earlier, and of course it's always fun to watch your LPs play from the inside out!

Most days I need to ease into the day with material like this.

Emmylou Harris - Luxury Liner

CD.      Original release, 1976.  Remastered release, 2004.  Included 2 bonus tracks.

I've only played this a few times (too many purchases the past 6+ months + not enough listening time).  No time like the present to hear it again.

Currently playing:  (You Never Can Tell) C'est La Vie

Bear's Den  -  "Red Earth And Pouring Rain"  (2016)  a bit Fleet Foxes, a bit Barr Brothers, a bit Blind Pilot, all very good.

For good measure after Black Uhuru.  Another long gone ancient vinyl album.   Love the Aswad horns .  Tidal (good old Tidal).

Margo Price - Midwest Farmers' Daughter

(2016) CD

Bought this a few months ago, but first listen.  First two tracks suggest I will like this one.

Joining in with the reggae vibe, this one from the much maligned UB 40, this time with guest artists from the world of Dancehall..........great!
