What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Watched last night's Southern Rock extravaganza on the Beeb, so, kicking off this evening with..............this.

On vinyl...

Chores done, bottle of Bishops Finger as a reward, and this - bliss
. CD rip.
US first press vinyl. super-slick soul, funk and pop with a jaw-dropping cast of musicians and singers of the kind that only The Q can attract. Some soppy ballads but most of it is spot on. Amazing SQ as well.

Looks like you've got the excellent deluxe version with disc two being the live tracks, Excellent!
No live tracks on this one as far as I'm aware Steve - maybe you're thinking of the deluxe set of "Car Wheels" , which has a blisteringly good live disc 2 ? (which unfortunately I don't have and seems not to be available now but thankfully is available on Tidal).

Allman Brothers - Live at Filmore East

Altan - The Widening Gyre

My mistake, absolutely right Nick it was "Car Wheels" I was thinking of! ![]()
2nd time of year the day, enjoyable....

Some serious listening, having tried to persuade another forum member to give this some time and effort. It's one of those albums that only really connects after repeat listening. And then it won't let go! I love it.

The Specials - Singles
Great stuff.

Kings Of Leon - Walls
Flac 24/48
What do you think of it Raider?
Played it once through very much like all their other stuff so it's alright by me. Try on the streaming sites, does seem a bit of a victim of the loudness wars to my ears. Give a better review when I have lived with it for a few weeks.
Gets better with a few listens

Commune, some early Goat to chase along the evening in fine psyche-dervish style.

Thanks for that I'll try it on Tidal, I like most of their stuff too, so from what you say it should be fine. Loudness wars, yep, such a shame...
It's going to be a Coltrane night..

Still with that good old Southern Rock.

Thought I would give this a Tidal try before pulling the trigger, I needn't have bothered its now waiting to be delivered.
Oh yes, Ms Hart on top form. I absolutely love this lady's music and she always seems to have a cracking band behind her. What's more I 'discovered' her on here. This Music Room and Tidal are truly wonderful inventions IMHO.

And, of course, these chaps.

I agree with all of that Nigel, I have found more music in this room than anywhere else I care to remember. ![]()

You can never get enough of those ZZ Tops

Not played this for quite a while but it was the first Tori album I bought. A rather eclectic mix of songs on here and she must have been in one of her 'deep' moods when she made it. Enjoyable though and the reproduction quality is excellent.
