(1990)

Talk of the Ozrics elsewhere prompted me to give this a spin from a great sounding original Dovetail Label CD.

Antony and the Johnsons. A record I was equivocal about when it came out, but now really like.

Horace Andy - Living in the Flood.

Just getting round to playing this for a second time.......................it just gets better and better.

Laid back reggae from Horace, who was also a main contributor to the sound of Massive Attack............highly recommended for a listen.

£1.83 + postage from the usual Amazon sources.

Still brilliant today.  Trying to relax after being butchered by my physiotherapist

1998 - Original vinyl...

Lavelle meets Shadow who meets Alice who meets Ashcroft who meets Yorke and together they turned  chaos into a great listening experience.

Keith Jarrett, The Koln Concert.

Wonderful if you are in the mood. But it is a very long album for solo piano and tough to actively listen all the way through. So sometimes I play it back to front so I get to hear it all. I am sure the die hard Jarrett fans will tell me I really should listen to Part I and Part II a,b & c in the correct order.

Attempting to recreate the sound of a grand piano in your front room is a true test of the capabilty of any system. Mine is getting there but some way to go.

The man can certainly play the joanna.

If you think that's long, try listening to both books of the Well Tempered Clavier.

Yes and this together with the Sunbear Concertos are the ,ost easily accessible ones of the solo concertos of Keith...

(1991)

More psychedelic space rock with knobs on from the Ozric Tentacles, once again well recorded with good SQ (ripped from original Dovetail Label CD).

Cavern Of Anti-Matter - I'm The Unknown

The latest e.p. from Tim Gane (Stereolab) et co. Odd mixture of instantly relatable Stereolab stuff and a techno style. Good though, and shows he's not content to sit still.

Available as a 24/88.2 download from Bleep

Black Uhuru - Sinsemilla.

Following the recent widespread approval of Steel Pulse's Handsworth Revolution, someone mentioned this one.

It dropped through the letterbox today.............................not half bad.................good shout.

If you like that, try Red and Chill Out, both of which are excellent. Wonderful drums and bass from Sly and Robbie of course.

Inter Milan v Southampton, on Radio Solent.

Saints 0-1 down, Inter have a man sent off, and Saints' record signing is on for the last twenty mins or so.

Jazz at the Pawnshop, by Arne Domnerus. This is one of those recordings with amazing sound quality that is real showing off fare. I just slung it on while reading the paper as I hadn't played it for a while, and became captivated by the music rather than the sound. Not much paper has been read, it's really foot tappingly good, with some great vibraphone.

I don't have Sensimilla and looked it up. I've ordered a copy for the princely sum of £1.56. It's a shame Puma Jones isn't on it apparently, as her singing is a huge contribution to the others. I also discovered that she died from cancer aged 36; very sad. The other one I have is Anthem, also very good. Red is my favourite.
