Lavelle meets Shadow who meets Alice who meets Ashcroft who meets Yorke and together they turned chaos into a great listening experience.
I backed the Kickstarter campaign and its been 2 years since it finished and Lavelle promised the 'enhanced' version of the album, at this rate it might be ready for the 20th Anniversary...
Hungryhalibut posted:Jazz at the Pawnshop, by Arne Domnerus. This is one of those recordings with amazing sound quality that is real showing off fare. I just slung it on while reading the paper as I hadn't played it for a while, and became captivated by the music rather than the sound. Not much paper has been read, it's really foot tappingly good, with some great vibraphone.
Was that on the Proprius label ?
I'll have to dig it out again. Along with Cantate Domino.

Steel Pulse - Handsworth Revolution.
Just mentioned above, so why not? ................................ absolutely the best of UK reggae.
Can see a chillin' evening ahead here. ![]()

Absolutely agreed, Bert. I remember hearing Helen Mayhew playing 'Blame It On My Youth' from this album on Jazz FM (when it played real jazz) and rushed out that weekend to buy the album. Superb album!

I shall give this one a listen.

Can always rely on Ornette Coleman when wanting something which has to be listened to!

The Lovely Eggs. Husband and wife team, on tour with a 3 year old. Very entertaining live. Takes me back to the era of Girls at Our Best, Delta 5, The Au Pairs and a few other bands that were playing before they were born. On their web site they also state that they like the Nightingales, who unlike the others from that era are still going and are another favourite of mine.

Id' forgotten how good this album is:

Paul still in Beatles-level vocal form performing some of the best post-Beatles stuff he ever did. (I am a big fan of the Venus & Mars album, as well as Band on the Run.)

They sound so different now, but nothing wrong with the early stuff.
