2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Scott Matthews - Passing Stranger
Thanks James n for this recommendation. I like the mix of styles. This is a first play. My first thought is that it's quite wordy, the music doesn't get that much of a chance to speak. It's made me realise for just how lyrically sparse , say, the average John Martyn record is. As I say, first play. Let's see how it goes.

Does anyone else remember these Beano records from the London Theatre Company?
Found several from 50(?) yrs ago. Cleaned, digitised and de-clicked. Sound fantastic.

Peter Gabriel,, Passion, vinyl. I have had this first edition since it first came out and am always impressed with the richness of the mix, the detail and, ahem, the passion!
2015 - Tidal...

Margo Price - "Midwest Farmer's Daughter" (2016) as seen on this thread
Hungryhalibut posted:A super new album from Leonard Cohen, released today. It's very short, but better 37 minutes of quality than 80 of so, so stuff. It seems my photobucket account has returned to life, so I can add a screen shot too.
Bought CD today played in the on the way home glad I ordered the Vinyl at the same time

Five star review in today's Guardian too.
An excellent album, the four CDs by this trio repackaged.

An old favourite getting a play tonight.

Marvellous. When I worked behind the Uni bar, Faron Young was the most played song on the jukebox.

The Christians - The Christians
The image of Donald Trump sprung into my mind when I heard the liyrics.
Row upon row of a castles in Spain, make up a fool's paradise.
The still born brainchild of a man with no brain.

Well. What can I say ...
Sebastien Tellier. Sexuality.
Proves that robots just don't have the right feel.
Ralph Towner: Anthem

"There is a depth of refrain in Towner’s music, and on Anthem it is alive with a direct philosophy that feeds also into the engineering. It is, quite simply, one of the finest solo guitar recordings to come out of ECM’s studios. Its balance of distance, finger action, and breath control is as erudite as that of the artist it documents. When medium and message are so well unified, who could ask for more?" (ECM)
I fully agree.
