What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Starting off the day with this. Another album that's aged well and with some very distinctive bass playing by Mark King on 'Easy'. Excellent synth pop.
Nik Kershaw - The Riddle

A+ | Tidal

(2010)
Prompted to play this after seeing Loki giving it a spin yesterday, it is very good indeed and reminds me that I really should get a physical copy.
A+ | Transcoded DSD

(2011)
The third of a series of three "Retrochet" works by Michael Neil & Graham Getty, Berlin School with interesting dark sequencing flowing through the album.
Back to the 90's - Just need my RS Turbo again for the full effect ![]()
The Prodigy - Experience

2002- CD...
Couldn't resist when I saw it. Joe 90's theme is up there among my favourites. ![]()

Ah yes... those late Saturday afternoon rituals spent glued to the telly waiting for one of these shows to start.

The poor mans Pearl Jam but i rather like them. This is an album i play when i'm not quite in the mood for the darker and heavier Soundgarden.
Stone Temple Pilots - Core

Their best album James but you already knew that, right? I'd rather listen to the Pilots than Pearl Jam anytime. ![]()

Think it is possibly my favourite Hubbard disc.

Horace Andy - Living In The Flood
Since both Horace and Sound Iration went down well, have a bash at this one.
Federico Aubele - Gran Hotel Buenos Aires.
Best to Tidalise it first though, as it's a bit Marmite, though I love it.
Argentinian singer / instrumentalist, doing dub, in Spanish, with no hint of Carribean influence, rather, classical Spanish guitar style.
Sounds weird? It is, but it works, IMHO. ![]()
One of the many great albums of Spock's Beard.....

I have to ask. What's the turntable please?
steve
Steve, apparently a 1964 Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference Turntable, built in a 70's cabinet. I think it also appears on A Clock Work Orange.
Thanks Tony!

A good album and this well remastered release has about thirty minutes of live bonus material from a Marquee Club gig, classic Canterbury scene prog rock.
case/ lang/ veirs
Really growing. My favourites are the tracks where Laura Veirs is to the fore. (None of that lower case nonsense for me).

Humble Pie - Rockin' the Filmore.
Let's rock? .............................. Why?
Why not? .......................LOUD!!!

In the mood for a little more Canterbury scene and this one from its "founders" will do nicely.

A chill-out Windham Hill evening so far - magical strings playing on vinyl from the 1980s.
Treated myself to a TKR a few weeks back and a very happy bunny
....a material upgrade over a XX2 mk 2.
