What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

(1969)
Because I've not listened to this in years and I'm just in the mood for the original rock opera.
dayjay posted:The Cult, She Sells Sanctuary, on Radio XS courtesy of my Nat05xs, is there a better opening couple of bars to any song ever? Absolutely rocks.

The Cult - Omnibus Edition - 4 CD version.
Contains the original album remastered, 12" singles, demos, and live album.
Playing at the mo' ......................LOUD!
Especially enjoying this, as I saw these at Leeds Becket just a few months back...................exceptional!
Great shout dayjay.

Following a recommendation on here, this dropped through the letterbox today.............nice laid back reggae.
Just the thing after The Cult, above.
Black Uhru - Chill Out.

2002 - Original vinyl...

Joe Bonamassa - Live at the Greek Theatre.
Yet another great live offering from Joe and the band.................yes, he's done many live albums, but they're all different, each one showcasing the evolution of his live act.
Anyway, I'm off to watch the long awaited Blu Ray, which finally arrived chez Dave this afternoon.
Blackfoot - Marauder. Vinyl
Nice heavy southern boogie.

Inspired by playing the Blackfoot album.
Michael Katon (The Boogie Man from Hell). – Bad Machine.
On YouTube, I can’t find the CD. ![]()
It doesn’t get any heavier, boogier, bluesier or better than this.
Airbad, Identity. Stop! Listen, that's the one!

Prompted by Fatcat's post and a brilliant, brilliant album. Vinyl

2015 - Tidal...
Discovered this after reading a Massive Attack article. Needs careful listening. Music is intrinsic at times and makes want to discover more and more. Terrific!
Rolling Stones - Rarities 1971-2003
Great material here including some from what Dave M refers to as their 'disco phase'! Favourites of mine are live versions of Beast of Burden, I just wanna make love to you and Mannish Boy.
The latter brought out my inner sub-editor. I had to check that that it's the same version that appears on my Love You Live, recorded in Toronto's El Macambo club. It is.
And staying with the writerly theme, now a favourite of Nick Hornby's (which I probably heard him talking about on R4) : Marah - Angels of Destruction!
C.
One of my 'Desert Island' albums. The sparse arrangements of familiar songs, exquisitely played along with the 'warm' analogue sound of the recording make this a pleasure to listen to.
It also shows that plain old Red Book is far from limited in SQ compared to Hi-Res.
Shelby Lynne - Just A Little Lovin'

2009 - Tidal...
The XX - XX
Kevin Ayers - Sweet Deceiver.
Original mid-70's vinyl.
Forgot I had it ... pristine and mellow although his voice does change from track to track a little strangely sometimes.
Just bought this Mickey Jupp classic on vinyl - excellent. Sounds very good but a tad slower than the CD version that I have.
