Extracted from a very dynamic sounding mono remastered Polydor label CD (2012), what's not to like? ![]()

You appear to be in a deep jazz groove at the moment, Ewemon. This is great to see.
As I mentioned in an earlier post Clive I have over 1k of jazz albums but rarely play them so am just reaquainting myself with a number of titles.
An enviable collection indeed!

According to the price label it looks like I bought this in around 1982. I was listening to a lot of R&B at that time as that was what I was playing before I took jazz lessons and discovered the likes of Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Grant Green etc. and, of course, John McLaughlin.

1972 - Original vinyl...
Sometimes you just need to hear Sandy Denny's voice.

Chicago blues? .........................he's the originator.
Tidalised this the other day and just got round to listening to it.
I realise the Blues are about the tough side of life, but this just makes me smile - mostly in admiration of the musicianship and the wonderful vocals.
Wonderful stuff, thanks for the tip Dave.

Indeed, Mike. A friend of mine is seeing them north of the border tonight so I thought I'd give it a spin. ![]()

I didn't know they were still touring, Tony. I'm envious of your friend.

Joining Tony with some old Groundhogs, I remember being totally blown away at the time at how different this album sounded compared to the Groundhogs' peers, it still stacks up really well and benefits from being played on the wrong side of loud.

My other recent purchase of Diana Krall's work. I think I have HH to thank for this recommendation. Another nice one.
I'm pleased you like it. Now, this is an album by my favourite jazz singer.

Scott Matthews - Passing Stranger
Really growing on me, a forum recommendation by James n and, I think, BordersNick, so thanks guys. Somehow, simultaneously dark and moody, and propulsive but positive with it.

My first and still my favourite Beth Nielsen Chapman album.
The Cult-Sonic Temple
Frederic Chopin: Preludes - Ivo Pogorelich (piano)
One of the greatest recordings of the Preludes with Pogorelich's extraordinary and unique musical vision and insight. It never fails to leave me amazed.
