If anyone is interested - 192kHz/24bit Quobuz £6.98 !

Only 4.99 at Qobuz, so giving it a try and seeing if it's a good buy for this high Res album, so far stayed away from it...

That's the best cover I've seen in ages. Just wonderful. I'll check out the album too.

If we are choosing jazz albums with nice covers, take this....

I bought this one purely for the looks and discovered a nice piano player

Design by Guidi/Tri Arts like the West Side Story album above, which is a good one.

Free - The Free Story.

A classic compilation.........................and wasn't Paul Kossoff just the best?

And why does his guitar coming out of the speakers sound so much better than my own feeble attempt coming from my amp .................practice more.?  ...........nah, he had talent!

JJ CAle & Eric Clapton - The Road to Escondido

Great record, somehow not played it for ages.

I have numerous different live recordings of Miles Davis performing the Bitches Brew album around 1970 with various line ups, but the set included in this box set recorded at Tanglewood on 18 August 1970 is a work of wonder. Absolutely cooking! The concert has been available on some earlier releases (not all kosher), but it has been cleaned up marvellously here. If you're a jazz fan and don't have this in your collection, it can be most strongly recommended for this disc alone.

Cream - Disraeli Gears.

Well, I've had Free, .................. now Cream .............. can Hendrix and The 'OO be far behind?

Immediately after I passed my diving test back n March 76 I bought the paper to discover that Koss had died. Ruined my day.   Actually in many ways a one dimensional guitarist compared with many of his peers - let's be honest he had some pretty stiff competition - but no one had the feel that he did.

Lindsay

Anekdoten - Vemod

Anekdoten were part of (and very much still are) the wonderful Prog revival in 1990s Scandinavia*. They started life as a King Crimson covers band and this, their first album, shows that the most. It's none the worse for wearing its influences on its sleeve, as in the video song (don't be put off, there are no visuals) which could have come from either of the first two Crimson LPs. It's smothered in Mellotron (that see-saw two chord approach Fripp loved) and a crunchy bass. Bizarrely it wasn't on any European releases - it was a bonus track on the Japanese pressings, and if you can't get one of those it's on the excellent Kscope collection Chapters (streamable on Qobuz).

Sad Rain (It's a glorious 10 minutes, but if you're pressed for time scoot to about 5, when they start to pile the 'Tron on with a shovel)

*see also Landberk, Anglagard, White Willow, Wobbler et al. Ask for further recommendations.

I like a lot of Charles Lloyds quartet stuff Bert , but I tried this one on Tidal a few times and  found it way  too "free" for me (even at £4.99 ).  Hope you enjoy though.

It certainly is.....................and I'd been thinking all these years that there was only me who liked it.

Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?

Well, I've had Free, followed by Cream, so, somewhat inevitably...................Jimi.

I can still remember how jaw dropping this was on first hearing..................music from another planet.

I agree it's kind of free. But the moments it starts to groove it's über brilliant...., so I pulled the trigger...
