2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Brian Wilson Presents Smile - original 2004 vinyl.
Haven't listened properly to this since I bought it
... very disappointing, don't see what all the hype and awards were for
... was this recorded in mono - there is no width to the soundstage at all !

First play of this - one of Berts recommendations.

Hi Alan,
I thought that the reconstituted Smile was very good - albeit lacking that certain something that the original Beach Bous harmonies had. Having said that, the subsequent "real" Beach Boys version, which is pretty much straight mono is utterly and completely ace.
Though even that is bogus in that Capitol would have somehow hacked that down to less than 30 minutes!

James Taylor - Hourglass.
Arrived this morning from the River................might have paid over the odds at £0.23, ........... but, ho hum.
Not previously a James Taylor fan, but this is a good album.
Great shout from Graeme, Tony and Nick.................keep it up chaps, and many thanks.
Dave.
My rather extravagant 50p example of this turned up today, ripped and listening and am again reminded what a lovely album this is and so well recorded and produced. Listening to the third track and I thought that sounds like Stevie Wonder on the harmonica, checked the credits and indeed it is the man himself helping out with some other big names also.
Not bad for 50p, even better at 23p!

Peter Gabriel - 3 - Vinyl remaster - inspired by "The Guardian" "10 of the best" recording by PG
Fenton Robinson - Somebody loan me a dime.

A style all his own on both vocals and guitar.
think I'm gonna nickname my 552 'Tardis' . It just transports you back to the Studio...
On CD:-

Mandolin Orange - Blindfaller

and now: Peter Gabriel 4 - remastered vinyl -

Ry Cooder 'why don't you try me tonight'

Hmmm, thought mine was early/original and its Polydor. Great record anyway!
Something smooth to chill to

Bassist Charlie Haden and pianist Hank Jones perform a variety of spirituals, hymns and folk songs as duets.

Well spotted. That is the cover for the 77' Dutch pressing. Mine is a Polydor 2442118 A1/B1 pressing and below is the cover for the UK 1st pressing.
Cheers

Dunno about 20p, I've had to fork out 50p. Not supposed to quote the source on here (think source of a river maybe). but it is AMAZing OwNing music than can be acquired for such little outlay but you do have to go pre-loved to get the real bargains.
That really floats my South American boat.
Enough clues me thinks.

George Harrison. Eponymous eighth studio album on original vinyl from 1979. As a teen I held the expectation that a George solo album ought to sound like a Beatles album and didn't then give this one much credence. Now in my 50s I've begun to appreciate what a true gem this album is.
