2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

I rather like some of the rough mixes on the Deluxe Editions. e.g.
Have to agree that the "work in progress" aspect on the extra discs is great, but, as far as the original albums go, try to have a listen to any of the Japanese SHM series, they're awfully good, IMHO.
Well, Led Zeppelinish......

Jimmy Page & Robert Plant - No Quarter.
Great reworking of Zep classics......................involving Egyptian and Moroccan musicians...............it's quite brilliant.
Do make sure, though, that you get hold of the "red cover" remastered edition, it's so much better than the original release.

Sorry to be annoying, but, in terms of performance and recording; how do these compare to the originals?
This is just great, and the four album set is still available on Qobuz for under £6.50.

One of my fav singer songwriters. IMHO he has never made a bad album.

Led Zeppelin - Double Shot.
There's any number of these bootleg soundboard recordings out there.............this is one of the better ones.

Secret Garden, Dawn of a New Century.
Hard to out a genre on this one, it has hints of celtic and neo-classical in there, if you like stuff like Enya you may like this or you may find it as dull as dishwater!
I find it rather lovely and relaxing

A mellow end to the weekend to prepare me for the Monday morning onslaught...
Norah Jones - The Fall

Moving on from Led Zeppelin...........well, sort of......

Planty continues his journey into fresh musical areas.....................great album.
An album I have always loved, full of mood and emotion. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

David Gray - White Ladder.
My first listen to this. I like it.![]()

Robert Plant - Dreamland.
Final one of the evening................Robert brings his unique interpretation to an album of covers................great listen.
Nighty night. ![]()
Britten, Frank Bridge Variations, Northern Sinfonia, Hickox
My system in a good mood this evening for first time in 3 days..!
This recording is raw as heck, but just so exciting. Plenty of brick-wall edits, made all the more obvious by a cavernous acoustic, microphone overloads galore, but it's a trip from start to finish. For anyone who likes Prog Rock, Pink Floyd, ELP but hasn't found any Classical they like I'd say try this recording. Quite immature Britten (it's only his 10th opus) but his precocious talent is very evident.

Pure bliss for a wet Sunday - the North Star Grassman and the Ravens (live) and Like and Old Fashioned Waltz (live) just bring out the goosebumps
Great music and you have the very rare CD that was withdrawn as soon as it was issued!
Clive
Clive - yes indeed - i paid a not insignificant sum for it several years back and have it safely stored - yet can still enjoy its music thanks to home streaming.

Norah Jones - Day Breaks
Listening for the first time and sounds encouraging.
Strange thing is this is the first NJ album where I have noticed one or two similarities in her voice to Melody Gardot (phrasing, intonation and the ending of a phrase/note). Could just be me though. It is late and I am very old. ![]()
Anyway, back to listening to Norah. Luverly!

On vinyl...
