2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Early morning tunes before work

I've had 'Malted Milk' stuck in my head since i woke up so had to play this first today. I'm not a massive fan of Eric Clapton, but i do really enjoy listening to this album. The Unplugged albums aren't as Hi-Fi as some live albums but they do capture the relaxed atmosphere of the venue and the musicians clearing enjoying themselves.

The excellent Markus Reuter and crew doing great work here again, long influenced by King Crimson it would be easy enough to believe that Robert Fripp had a hand in this new album. He didn't.

I agree that to some extent his studio albums are sometimes underwhelming. When performed live, it's a different story. Eric is at his best when performing live. Have a listen to Just One Night, his 1980 double live album recorded in Japan, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. A couple of gems there by Otis Rush and J.J. Cale.
Eric Clapton - Sessions for Robert J.

James,
I do agree with Tony, and also find some of his studio work a bit bland, so have a bash at this one, which I stuck up a couple of weeks ago.
Recorded with a stellar band, with little in the way of overdubs, it's a near "live" as you're likely to get.
It's also available with the accompanying DVD, which on my setup here, is never going to sound as good as the ripped CD playing through the hi fi, but, is nevertheless a great watch, as the band record these sessions.
Cheers Tony / Dave - i'll take a listen so thanks for the recommendations ![]()
Thinking about it, my all time favourite Clapton is the fantastic soundtrack for the Edge Of Darkness (BBC series not the Hollywood crap) with Michael Kamen. Must watch that again soon.

Ah yes, the excellent Edge of Darkness which has just prompted me to play that track from his live double album 24 Nights (at The Albert Hall). EoD was at the time (for me) one of the most emotive soundtracks which I struggled to try and keep out of my head. Sounding great as I type.

Sade - Lovers Rock.
Posting this for no reason, other than that I need to calm down a bit.
I've just completed packing a Fraim base to send off to someone, and blimey, the supplied packaging took a bit of working out.
I now feel ready to take on the Krypton Factor............................anyone remember that?
Anyway, s'all done now...................phew! ![]()
On CD:-

Joan As Police Woman & Benjamin Lazar Davis - Let It Be You

I heard "The Bottom Line" on the big Kef Muon/Chord system at the Windsor show last weekend. It sounded awesome so I thought I'd get the CD to try at home

Natalie Merchant - Motherland . First listen on Tidal as recommended by a friend half my age and really impressive so far , Great voice !
Lots going on in the world...time to chill and reflect!

A+ | Tidal

I was originally alerted to this on Bandcamp and listening to it again via Tidal. Psychedelic rock, at times reminiscent of the American West Coast 1960s - 70s vibe and the more recent Heron Oblivion, impressive from this London band.

Richard Hawley - Standing at the Sky's Edge.
Richard goes all psychedelic.....................needs to be played LOUD!
Great guitar at the end of Part One:

That is a heck of a good album and the hard to find and buy live version of the album can be had on Tidal ![]()

John Martyn - Grace & Danger
Music On Vinyl Release and sounding really nice.

Gladys Knight - Midnight Train to Georgia
If you want to remind yourself how good she is this is on Tidal.
