2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Armed Forces
On Vinyl
Five Live Yardbirds. Sonny Boy Williamson & the Yardbirds.

Recorded live at the Marquee, 1964, Recorded live at the Crawdaddy Club, 1963,
with Mr. Clapton doing his thing on each occasion.
Some might say they're a bit dated now, but here's where it all started for UK blues.

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
Stunning album.....On Vinyl. Half-Speed master cut at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell.
Looking for musical inspiration and found this album coming up quite a few times in this thread. I've not listened to it for some time and i'd forgotten how good it is.
Morcheeba - Big Calm

Mal Waldron
All 3 were this afternoons jazz discs.

Sting - "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles" (1985)
Them - Them. The Animals - The Complete Animals.

Featuring Van the Man. Featuring, of course, Eric Burton.
Some more early British R 'n B..................and why not?

Peter Hammill / Gary Lucas - Other World
On Vinyl
Long time no ear, as Van Gogh may have said. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers - The Beano album. The Rolling Stones - 1st album.

Bit of an R 'n B nostalgia fest here this evening, what with The Yardbirds, Them and The Animals, earlier..............so, ending the evening with these two........................and why not? ![]()

On vinyl...![]()

Sounding rather good...on vinyl.
Brian Eno, Apollo, vinyl. Sounds a lot like Interstellar In places. Spot the plagiarism? Elements of Local Hero too...

Robert Plant. Dreamland. On CD from 2002. I like all Plant's solo work which to me has been increasingly progressive, continually drawing on varied musical fusions. I find an overriding tension and pensive nature to the music on this album as a whole, Engaging from that standpoint yet it has a sonic stridency that begins to play a bit long over its length. Would love to hear the vinyl version of this loudness-mastered CD.
Tear for Fears, The Hurting, quick listen with breakfast before work. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

(2012)
A bit of psych raga and fuzzy stoner rock to start the day.

Ah...nostalgia! I still have my old vinyl copies of these, and the cover of Five Live Yardbirds is a bit tatty. Of course by the time the one with SB Williamson came out, Clapton had left which is why the Yardbirds photo on the cover shows Jeff Beck!
