What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
I wonder what our American friends will be having....see what i did......!!!

Supertramp - Breakfast in America.
Paddy Murphy - Dog's Dinner.
This seems more likely, methinks. ![]()
America - Homecoming
I had it in mind to say something glib about a kinder, gentler America. Better to say that Ventura Highway is sublime.
C.

Haven't played this for over 15 years! Still sounding great to these ears.

Supertramp - Breakfast in America.
When will that come out in Hi Res? (sigh).

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Safe As Milk.
Complete madness from The Captain........................nostalgia night, so far.
On CD:-

Syd Arthur - Apricity

Another album which hasn't seen the light of day for many years. What a band!

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Best of.
Well, one can hardly have a nostalgia fest without these guys onboard.....................Bad Moon Rising indeed. ![]()
Ouroboros - Ray Lamontagne. Tidal. A definite grower.

Lambchop - Flotus. First listen. Tidal.

1995 - Streaming...
Rounding the evening off with some trombone jazz from Ray Anderson. Another one from my collection which hasn't seen the light of day for over 20 years. I think I first heard it on Helen Mayhew's Dinner Jazz programme on Jazz FM when it used to play jazz.

I love this thread, built for Tidal...
Thanks for Art Blakey, led me back to the rich treasure trove that is Rudy van Gelder; all sounding fine as I slowly work through mostly reaffirming things I like as well as things not accessible (I'm looking at you Eric Dolphy).
Thanks for Otis Taylor, had a go at White African, but Tidal seemed to jump to the next track midway through each song, so now steeped in Hey Joe; reminded of Alvin Youngblood Hart for those into rougher urban blues.
Rediscovered a bunch of Japan, Sylvian, Karn, and found Rain Tree Crow which I never found back in the day something worth re-examining for those looking at melodic program / trance / not-quite-ambient.
Good few hours this has been, really liking the system and these discoveries.

A different perspective of Jordi Savall doing the Folias de Espana:

Essentially this was part of the Logos album tour, a very well recorded boot of a good concert performed by Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Johannes Schmoelling.

(2013)

Bit of a "grower" for me......took a few listens over a period of time....guess my mood wasn't right before
A+ | Transcoded DSD

(2013)
An excellent soundtrack album that seems to nicely fit the dank misty day here.
A+ | Tidal

(2008)
Black Mountain are ace, as are Sinoia Caves, which is keyboardist Jeremy Schmidt's solo electronica outfit.
