2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
What a week - this will do nicely -
The Sound Of The Smiths

A bit of Neil, on UK first press vinyl:

Massive Attack - Protection.
Maybe doesn't get mentioned on here as often as either "Blue Lines" or "Mezzanine", but this, their second album, contains some great moments.
Great album Dave - Karmacoma is a killer track (and great video). Got that lined up next.
Can't face any Leonard Cohen today so
... Uncut Jack White's Blues - Various
This was my father's record. Although it looked clean anyway, I've just cleaned it on the Okki Nokki and it sounds really good. Great recording for a live album.

Mark Lanegan - Blues Funeral.
A dark, brooding selection of tunes from Mark.
Enough of them ear worms for this album to keep on choosing itself for "next up".
Anna Gourari (piano): Visions fugitives
"In every fleeting vision I see worlds, Filled with the fickle play of rainbows"
Konstantin Balmont

Skids - Scared to Dance
On CD

Chris Jones - Free Man.
Chris could sure play that there guitar. Wonderful stuff.
It's on Tidal if you fancy a listen.

Muse - Black Holes and Revelations.
I've very little understanding of what the lyrics are about..............but it don't half sound good............quite LOUD!
Josefin Ohrn + The Liberation - their new album Mirage, on vinyl. A real grower:

Because I enjoyed a couple of The Doors albums last night and fancied another...

Unkle - Psyence Fiction.
Following on from Muse, what else but this?
Funky trip-hop.....................took me a few listens to get into this...................well worth the effort, IMHO.
chris stapleton traveller. 2015. CD rip. Great album . Now where did I put those cowboy boots ? ![]()

He with a last cigarette, looking back to the past yet already the bright light there he intend to go soon.
Spookily, I played this via Tidal for the first time yesterday evening before news of his passing. I've never really listened to his music before but I am rather impressed with this album.

And how are your pressings, Graham? I recall the issues Jim had recently with his last MM Lee Morgan and Thad Jones discs. Hope yours are of quality for which they earned their reputation.
Clive, no problems with the vinyl I have been fortunate in that dept However, the Lee Morgan has a tiny seem split because the vinyl was not put in the usual white slip case separated from the cover and this is where I sympathise with Jim these albums with shiping cost just shy of £100 and it's not acceptable that MM are now cutting corners on things like card slip cases, inferrer packaging, shoddy quility control, and in Jims case poor costumer relations.
ATD Graham.
Sampling on Tidal...

the decemberists the king is dead . 2011. CD rip. Without a doubt one of my "most played". Hard to categorise - but a a brilliant blend of folk and rock with lots of great songs.

Radiohead - OK Computer.
Following on from Muse and Unkle, I suppose this one's a bit predictable......................it's only Rock 'n Roll, (not), but I like it!
A+ | 24/96 FLAC

(1971)

Sampling on Tidal as well

The Proclaimers - Sunshine on Leith.
Last one tonight before the ............... ahem, .................... footy. ![]()
