2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Enjoying my rediscovery of Wooden Shjips, this one, West, dropped through the letter box yesterday.

Blur: The Best Of. On 2CD from 2000. First listen and being familiar with only a handful of the band's most popular songs, I grabbed this on a whim. Plenty of "wha 'ooo" Britpop delivered with heavy cockney, but also some interesting etheric, psychedelia themes very similar to the band 'Oasis'. Not one I'd be inclined to give repeated listens to but good for when the mood strikes me.

Her self proclaimed 'masterpiece'. Nice album for a sleepy Saturday morning.

Swans - The Seer on CD, disc 2. The Apostate is such a fearsome track to end the album; it demands maximum volume

Impressive. The first piece is very much in the Köln Concert style, the other pieces are a bit different. But absolutely recommended for the people who are into Keith and solo, it's much more accessible as the music of some of the more recent solo concerts. A milestone.

So long.

Have you found this to download? It's £35 on Amazon, which is too much.
File under: Why isn't he massive?

2000 - CD...
Rather nice for a Gloomy Saturday morning

Mr Leonard Cohen was the unlikeliest of pop stars, prophets and lotharios, yet, over a period of more than five decades, he created a song catalogue of unrivalled depth, wisdom and self-knowledge, informed by his adventures and misadventures in love, and the darkness he observed in the world around him.
Kind of dreamy atmosphere, different from his earlier albums, haven't yet made up my mind...

“I love to speak with Leonard. He’s a sportsman and a shepherd. He’s a lazy bastard. Living in a suit.” Four years before his death, Mr Cohen anticipates death so vividly, it is as if it’s breathing down his neck. Happily for us, the singer had other plans, and <Old Ideas>, the 2012 album from which this lovely, wistful song comes, began a remarkable three-record run that helped introduce the singer to a new generation of listeners.

I do enjoy a bit of Gregorian chant.
Cello, piano and a cup of coffee to start a cold morning.

Just reviewed it. A typical example of euro craziness. The German side requests ov r 33 euros for the same album. I always would advise to scan multiple sides. Even as much as this weekend I made a mistake by getting the same standard version of the new Sol Gabetta believing it wouldn't come in high res, then on other sites it started to show up on other sites. Arghhhh
Another painful examples was the Brückner Cycle from Jaap van Zweden I saw it for close to 80 euros, bought it for 60 and was surprised to see it show up on another side for 15 euros....
If you have a sublime account of Qobuz, mostly Qobuz France is the cheapest. Sometimes for ECM on high Res I get a cheaper version on pro studio masters (as American registration).

2nd part of the album is very strong. The beginning is a bit newish...

I wonder if this will attract any 'likes' from the Naim Audio forumites?
