1971 - Original vinyl...

I just love the back cover where on the top right hand side is says: "file under POPULAR; pop group". Times have changed!

One of my all-time favourite albums. Quite magical IMO.

Very Good.  Streamed from Qobuz. TYVM for posting.

I can see I'm going to have to give this another spin (not really 'cos it's ripped to the NS01), but it didn't do it for me at first, so it slipped off the playlist.  Later today!

Just the right time of the night to listen to some Floyd and there is no better album.

Mmm... Have you forgotten WYWH perhaps?

Nick's side project. A lot more enjoyable than their first album and Warren is on fire.

If you felt a little depressed with Nick's  last album, this is the antidote.

Saw Grinderman a couple of times. Last time was 2011, they played Big Day Out here in Perth. PA was pushed to the limit, distortion and anarchy ruled. The most non hifi experience you can imagine. Fabulous

I bought it on Qobuz, so you get it there or sample it there...

Another one of those live albums that could be doing with a Deluxe release with some of the tracks that were originally recorded for the album.

Having heard Naima being played on BBC R3 Breakfast, I thought I'd start the day by listening to the rest of that superb album.

This 1959 Mono Blue Note album from MM November's 33rpm reissue program.

Classical music is full of child prodigies but they are somewhat rare in jazz. Lee Morgan was an exception, for he was a brilliant trumpeter while still a teenager. His musical genius is difficult to explain; but easy to hear. Lee Morgan emerged fully formed technically along with a crackling intensity and passion that was a joy to experience.

Sticking with the mood created by Giant Steps, another example of Coltrane at his best (better?). Crescent.

1st run...

Impressive. The first piece is very much in the Köln Concert style, the other pieces are a bit different. But absolutely recommended for the people who are into Keith and solo, it's much more accessible as the music of some of the more recent solo concerts. A milestone.

Have you found this to download? It's £35 on Amazon, which is too much.

12.99 on the French version of Qobuz.....

Just reviewed it. A typical example of euro craziness. The German side requests ov r 33 euros for the same album.  I always would advise to scan multiple sides. Even as much as this weekend I made a mistake by getting the same standard version of the new Sol Gabetta believing it wouldn't come in high res, then on other sites it started to show up on other sites. Arghhhh

Another painful examples was the Brückner Cycle from Jaap van Zweden I saw it for close to 80 euros, bought it for 60 and was surprised to see it show up on another side for 15 euros....

If you have a sublime account of Qobuz, mostly Qobuz France is the cheapest. Sometimes for ECM on high Res I get a cheaper version on pro studio masters (as American registration).

The german Amazon side says 4 Discs!

 Leonard Cohen's son Adam's 2011 CD.

Adam s songs on Like A Man evoke something of his father just as in any child you can discern the echo of the parent.  But his voice is unique and the feel of the album is his own. I can thoroughly recommend it.

The Rolling Stones - in mono.

In anticipation of The Stones "Blue and Lonesome", back to basics album, due out in less than three weeks...............this.

15, yes, 15 discs of The Stones, remastered and in mono, as they should be heard.................takes me right back to Dansette days.

That should keep you going for a few hours Dave...

I'm about halfway through these, and it's all good.

A real nostalgia fest for those, like me, "of a certain age", who remember, (or at least, think they do ), the originals blasting out from the record player in mono.

Happy Days.

I just love this album!

On an excellent Phil Schaap-curated CD. Entirely appropriate for Sunday listening, and, well, it's just so majestic...

Yes it is four discs, so typical cheap pricing of Qobuz...
