2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

1973 - Original vinyl...
I have not listened to any Bowie for a while. This has never been my favourite of his album but I do enjoy the classic Sorrow and there is also the very interesting take on Floyd's See Emily Play.

Rita Coolidge - "Delta Lady - The Anthology" disc 1 (2004) an artist closely related to Leon as they often performed and recorded together.

It certainly is.....................and I'd been thinking all these years that there was only me who liked it.
I like it but haven't played it much.
Crazy Baby with the amazing tempo and guitar licks

1979 - Original vinyl..
Look Back In Anger stands out on a very diverse album. Some of his best material were written during his Berlin period.

Leon Russell - "Leon Live" (1973)

(1972)
The 1997 remaster for its 25th anniversary but I'll be skipping the 16 minute interview at the end... ![]()

A top, top, live album.
I've been searching t'internet to track down the "live" TV broadcast of Leon and The Shelter People, shown in UK many moons ago.
I remember being glued to the telly whilst this was being shown, so if you stumble across it, could you give me a shout?

Some good tracks on that Dave, Desert Rose has always been one my favourites of his.

Tellurian by Soen
(2014)
I've been a bit of an advocate of Soen for a few years now, this is really good hard hitting, melodic metal from yet another cracking Scandi' band/supergroup.
It's the Duke again. Well, he is the greatest. Warner CD:

Camel 'Breathless' on original vinyl. Not been cleaned, but it always was a great pressing, good recorded sound too.

The cello concerto brought out the best in Julius Röntgen - this disc is not to be missed

(2013)
A bit of progressive metal and prog rock from this London based band.

2016 - Tidal...
Scott's new one, on vinyl. Soundtrack to an acclaimed arthouse flick:

Live album set

Santana - Ultimate Collection, CD rip.
Eisbrecher - Schock
A German Neue Deutsche Härte band, very much in the vein of "if you like Rammstein and Megahertz (from whence they came)". Noisy. Very, very noisy.

Scullion - Balance and Control. Vinyl.
Spotted this in charity shop. I haven't heard of Scallion, but decided to buy it when I noticed it was produced by John Martyn. Glad I did, nice folky rocky album.

Jonny Lang - Lie to Me.
Since I mentioned him above, here's the first album.
15 years old? ........................how mad is that?
Apparently, nowadays, he can't bear to listen to listen to these first two albums....................."it'd be like looking at your old school reports"............................how many of us do that? ....................not me, for sure.
I'm of the opinion that this is his only album worth listening to .. it's raw and energetic .. the subsequent albums are very tame compared to this.

Laura Mvula: The Dreaming Room. Streaming Qobuz

I've been on a bit of a Willie Dixon jag of late .. this particular album with Memphis Slim is excellent .. both of these performers are giants in the Blues arena.
This less known album has a few good tunes as well:
