The Rigel Axiom by Dynatron

"Dynatron still picks up where early pioneers such as Thomas Leer & Robert Rental headed with "Six A.M." or "Perpetual" in the late 70s forecasting the Synthwave-Pop development of the 80s."..."Should appeal to synthwave and more adventurous black metal fans as well". - Some bandcamp patrons comments.

Robert Plant. Manic Nirvana. On CD from 1990. I'm padding my Plant collection which is currently balanced towards the vinyl. First listen and a fantastic, ass-kicker of an album that leaves nothing wanting for SQ. Content to stick with the CD on this one.

Still on the Big Pink Box.

This time it's the CD in the 1968 set, Germin/ation.

Studio recordings from 1968

"Point Me at the Sky" - 3:40

"It Would Be So Nice" - 3:46

 "Julia Dream" - 2:34

"Careful with That Axe, Eugene" (single version) - 5:46

  "Song 1" (Capitol Studios, Los Angeles, 22 August 1968) - 3:19

  "Roger's Boogie" (Capitol Studios, Los Angeles, 22 August 1968) - 4:35

BBC Radio Session, 25 June 1968

"Murderotic Woman (Careful with That Axe, Eugene)" - 3:38

"The Massed Gadgets of Hercules (A Saucerful of Secrets)" - 7:18

"Let There Be More Light" - 4:32

   "Julia Dream" - 2:50

BBC Radio Session, 20 December 1968

"Point Me at the Sky" - 4:25

   "Embryo" - 3:13

   "Intersteller Overdrive" - 9:37

The SQ is again excellent, apart from "Interstallar Overdrive", which is in very poor quality for some reason - there are far better qual versions of it on bootlegs. "Song 1" is a real find - a splendid little jamming thing that has a vague similarity to "Cymbeline" from the More album of the following year.

"Roger's Boogie" is just plain weird - by far the strangest thing by the Floyd I've ever heard. I'm not sure if it's brilliant or terrible, or whether Roger Waters (its composer and, er, singer) had dropped a tab of bad acid that day in the Capitol Studios...
