2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
1969 - Original album...
Steven Wilson Transience on CD. An enjoyable collection of some of his solo work.

One of my favourite artists and this is the first time I have listened to this - shame on me! Wonderful stuff even though these are purely covers. Some great guest artists make an appearance. Do track down 'The Complete Sessions' version of the album though as it has some wonderful additional....err.....tracks.
This version of the album is on Tidal with the other versions too.
Nigel, I also like DK, could you recommend to me another album in addition to this one ? I have: Christmas Songs, Love Scenes, Quiet Nights,The Very Best Of .., When I Look In Your Eyes.
Erich - My favourite DK album, although not universally popular, is 'The Girl in the Other Room'. Simply wonderful. It is on Tidal so you can try before you buy.
Diana Krall, All for You . Along with Love Scenes is a fave here.
I have had most of the trax on this album for a number of years now and am glad it finally sees the light of day.
John Martyn - Inside Out
The master lays down a late night groove.

Try A Night in Paris. She can be rather dry and emotionless, but not on this album. If you like female jazz singers, try Stacey Kent.
I thought I had A Night In Paris, but looking for it I found another one I have: Glad Rag Doll. Everyday I find holes in my music catalog. May be I bought A Night In Paris as a gift for somebody.
Yes, I like Female Vocalists and have a list of almost 400 (no all of them Jazz) , and at least one album from almost 100 of them (Vinyl, CD, or HDF).
I also like Stacey Kent, I have The Changing Lights (HD).

Try "The Boy next Door" .. it's magnificent ..
What a talented fellow this guy is !! I listened to the acoustic album live at the Vienna Opera House earlier tonight and then some of his albums with Beth Hart .. magnificent .. keep them coming Joe.
This is truly quite superb. "The Numbers" being a highlight for me. As good as HTDC or WFA? Yep.

Yes. One of our favourites. We've seen him in concert numerous times, most recently, his acoustic set in NY at Carnegie Hall. Stunning. We've also seen Beth Hart, and she's also brilliant - one of our all-time best concerts.
Robert Plant. Now And Zen. On vinyl from 1988. First listen. Since I got back into vinyl four years ago I've enjoyed discovering old music that is new to me. Plant's solo career mostly passed me by in real time, but I'm having fun catching up on it now. This album, his fourth, is a DMM pressing with impressive sonics; a bigger-than-the-room soundstage, great imaging, and precise transient attack and decay. The music is good, but for my taste a decline from his previous three albums and most of what followed, especially for creativity and artistry. While enjoyable, 'Now And Zen' plays heavy on production and commerciality with a compromising glam-metal signature.

Wonderful album.
Rush. Clockwork Angels. On CD from 2012. Second listen and really growing on me. An excellent album and very compositely Rush in the best sense. Unfortunately the CD is overtly loudness-mastered and plays with a very crowded and busy sonic over the whole of the album. I'm going to return the CD to the record shop and seek out the vinyl which, according to the DR database, should merit a big increase in SQ despite tripling the cost as well as trips to the deck to play the entire album.
On the original vinyl:-
King Crimson - Beat

And here is the German release which was originally released privately on Music Factory label in a limited edition of 500 copies before they were able to get it released commercially on the Liberty label ( couple of months later) with the new cover, just some useless info...

In the mood for a little JLH and a quick play through this best of will do nicely.
Someone on this forum recommended this a few days or so ago. Like the original poster I had not been overly impressed with Clapton on the recordings I have , but on the strength of the recommendation I sought out a copy and purchased it through Amazon second hand. I just love this album!!! Firstly, the copy I bought is faultless, and secondly the music is better still! Many thanks for the advice!
Only problem is I daren't dip into this thread too often - it always costs me money (but I've never been less than happy with the recommendations)!!
Still one of my favourite albums - listened to at least once a week since it came out.
Hand in Glove. One of my favourite songs by the best band ever. It was their debut single, recorded for £225.
Eric Clapton - Backless
When I play a record like this, I'm always delighted when an otherwise pappy, soft rocker such as Promises comes along and levens the mix. Somehow adds to the greater whole.
