2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Pink Floyd - Animals
On Remastered Vinyl. Excellent pressing.
The Decemberists - "The Hazards Of Love" (2009)
A glorious album that I believe will come to be regarded as a classic. When I turn up the wick and close my eyes I am transported back to the Royal Festival Hall where I saw her and her hugely talented band perform much of this album.
Porcupine Tree - "Fear Of A Blank Planet" (2007)
Breaking Habits by MELLER GOLYZNIAK DUDA, FLAC Download. Released today. Something different from Riversides Mariusz Duda. I think this will need a couple of plays before I will get into it.
Streaming Qobuz. Tx to who recommended it to me.
Under pink skies and balmy temperatures dropping fast. Snow is expected tonight.

Have listen the first 5-6 tracks. Was very possitiv impressed, didn't expeect anything from them in advanced.
Pretenders II. On original Sire vinyl from 1981. I found a genuinely exciting and raw vibe to the Pretenders' early music back in the day, Chrissie Hynde's vocals sassy and irreverent. I still get good energy from this album 35 years later.
Robert Plant. Band Of Joy. On CD from 2010. My first Listen. This album really doesn't fit into a specific genre for me; rather, it is a collection of creative, wandering song interpretations that in toto play as a beguiling and rewarding musical journey. Excellent!
Neil Young. Road Rock Volume 1. On HDCD from 2000. A new listen for me, and frankly I'm a bit baffled as to why these recordings were selected for release by NY. Nothing particularly outstanding in the performances, especially the accompanying vocals, and there is a distracting echo heard in several of the venues. NY's official live recordings from The Cow Palace and Massey Hall are far superior for venue ambience, as are several 'unofficial' live recordings I have on vinyl.
The 1st run of the new one from B&W Society of Sound...
Was at first a bit sceptical as the first song was just atmospheric, but it really develops......, I like what I hear...

Loving this (Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation, Mirage). On vinyl:
Pink Floyd Animals - CD rip
Had this on the the car yesterday and now in the house. Not a massive Floyd fan, but this is probably my favourite album of theirs. Memories of first getting into music back in 1977.
Deliciously raw.
