Funny forgot the post button. So now afterwards - the concertos are a bit more challenging to appreciate, but I also couldn't turn off.

Do you like this recording? Think there are much better recordings avaliable.

It's not her best recording, her recent recordings are on a different level. So yes there are better recordings. Always like to explore new talent and also go back to the less celebrated recordings.

Ps besides the normal recommendation give Vengerov a try...

"Although he has never been given the credit he deserves, George Thorogood keeps turning out blistering, paint-stripping, slide-guitar soaked rock'n'roll, with no compromise offered to prevaling trends or current fashions."

Dave, George is and always has been 'bad to the bone'. A great artist and showman. Unfairly poo-pooed by too many snooty types, I think.

Ah!!!!  memories of seeing him at Roundhay Park, Leeds, supporting the Stones in !982 (when Jack was a lad and Jip was a pup....). He and his band really ripped it up. I recommend you this :

Whoah, Wugged, I was there that memorable day too.........................great music, with the J Geils band as well.......................and much as I love the Stones, George and the boys showed them the way home that day.

And I couldn't agree more about the snooty types........................George just tells it like it is, and I'm impressed that he keeps it real, up to, and including his latter albums.

Rock on George

Quick search has failed to reveal the Beeston album..........................where can I find this one?

Dave, it's Live Boston. You can grab it from Amazon.co.uk sellers for six quid. Money well spent - trust me I'm a doctor. :-)

Virtually unknown chamber music by Max Bruch. The works themselves strike me as pleasant, but uneventful and ultimately forgettable. The performances are good, but don't manage to make this music sound better than it is, so ultimately a bit of a dud.

Cheers

My apologies Wugged, my failure to insert a smiley kept hidden my poor attempt at irony.

My referring to the Leeds show, and hence the "Beeston album" meant that I was hoping to maybe pick up a copy on my next visit to Elland Road.

Tidalising the Boston album right now................................great album................good shout............"How sweet it is"

George Thorogood and the Destroyers - Live in "Boston" 1982.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes down to it,  Dave :-)  You'll be wanting an Amazon link to Live at Pontefract next, I suppose ?

Paul Simon - Stranger to Stranger.

I'm not the biggest Paul Simon fan, but the recording and dynamics on this album are quite special...........a relaxing listen.

The immersive quality of this album is a good antidote to the miserable weather outside.

The artwork is wrong as Paul Carrack also played as part of the band on keyboards and vocals.

(2015)

Good heavy rock of the psychedelic type, mixed up nicely with stoner riffs from a band who oft' open for Black Mountain, good stuff which I haven't played for ages.

You can have a try here or on Tidal type things if you have them...
