What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
This gem came up on Asset's Album Jukebox playlist feature. A great way to remind yourself of albums you may not have heard in a while.
Lloyd Cole and Hans-Joachim Roedelius - Selected Studies Vol. 1
A change of pace for Lloyd, and myself after Radiohead. Though I think there could be something here to interest the Greenwood lad.

Go Go Penguin - v2.0
Really enjoying this after recent gig.

Rage Against The Machine-Rage Against The Machine

Very much overlooked in my collection. Attempting to redress that tonight.

It's a modern classic. On of my all-time favourites.
It's perhaps matched by their latest album , "A Moon Shaped Pool", which, although excellent, is arguably less diverse in some ways

It's interesting that the same song can move one listener and bore another. Would be interesting to see if there has been any research into why that is
With me, it's mostly down to the vocals, and I do prefer good tunes. I happen to be a big Procol Harum fan but a good friend cannot stand Gary Brooker's voice. The vocal styles of Kate Bush, Joanna Newsom, Donald Fagan, Morrisey, Leonard Cohen, to name a few, don't resonate favourably with me, much as I might admire their music, and enjoy some of it. There are several albums, such as "Famous Blue Raincoat", Leonard Cohen songs by Jennifer Warnes, that are amongst my favourites. In fact, I shall play it right now...
A+ | Tidal
(2004)
I never got around to buying this live double album so having a go on Tidal, Disc 1 for the moment.
I was never a real great Bowie fan, low I love though, this is a great last album of a remarkable artist...
Going through my latest purchases.
Black Box Recorder - The Facts Of Life
Another great forum recommendation getting a play
American Band - Drive-By Truckers
Listening to Before the Dawn - the live album of Kate Bash's astonishing live show.
Its, err, astonishing.
The SQ is as good as any live album I've heard - up there with Leonard Cohen / Field Commander Cohen...
Listening to the downloaded copy via my office blue tooth speakers, before the vinyl copy arrives on Monday. I cannot wait to play this on the big system.

1975 - Vinyl...
Ok, not exactly California out there, a little chilly, but the sun is shining. Nothing better than some Mama Cass.

"Lily" actually brought a tear to my eye. I'm only able to play one CD (of three) today, have vinyl which will have to wait a few days.
This has the makings of a very special album...
2012 - Double CD...
Great compilation with their early stuff with Eric, Jimmy and Jeff. Fiver on the river.
Playing for Change, volumes 1, 2 & 3.
New to me, these albums form part of a charity project, where producer Mark Johnson travelled the world, recording artists "live" in their home countries, performing well known standards.
There's appearances from Keb' Mo' , Keith Richards and many others.
Check it out on YouTube, search for "playing for change"............................ for me, some of the versions are, to quote Keef, "the way music is meant to be."
Do have a listen to Keb'Mo' and others doing Honky Tonk Women ....................brilliant!
Sting - "Brand New Day" (1999)
Habib Koite & Eric Bibb - Brothers in Bamako.
In the post above, "Playing for Change", I quoted Keef, "the way music is meant to be".
No better example of that than this album, two masters of their craft setting out to entertain us...........superb.
Available on Tidal.
Annie Lennox - "Songs Of Mass Deconstruction" (2007)

Thats an interesting "new" title for the album, Jeff
George Thorogood and the Destroyers - 30th Anniversary Tour Live.
Just can't keep George and the boys off the Dansette at the mo' ................... nothing new here, just doing what they do best..............a great live band.
