2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Ray Lamontagne - Till the sun turns black
I'm off out to a younger colleague's leaving do. But while everyone else pre-loads, I can happily report there is much here to enjoy for the oldsters ;-)

Joe Walsh - So What. Joe Walsh - The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get.
Ending tonight's nostalgia fest with one of the great rockers from the '70's.

Wow... incredible.. I love it... wish I had been able to see the show!
on vinyl.

Would have liked to have seen one night of this run of shows.
I had a slight falling out with her during her very first tour in the 70's. Long boring story.
Ewemon,
We are all ears. Nice to have even been close enough to fall out.
After further listening on the slightly dodgy CD copy I burned from my download (CDS3 a bit fussy with CDR's) I cannot wait for the vinyl version to arrive.

After total immersion in Kate Bush for a number of hours, a few alternative plays on vinyl. Doing the rediscover your collection thing, post phono stage upgrade. Sounding better than ever.

All the talk of the new album has put me in the mood for some Kate Bush, must admit i have not listen to my Kate Bush albums for several years.

Double whammy, hein? That's how you don it!
Another recent hires issue of a famous historic recording, the 1971 Lucia with what must be among the starriest casts ever assembled for an opera. This transfer benefits from much less audible distortion than in Decca's original (3 CD) release.

Interested to hear that Mr Wylie has released a new album after a number of years. Enjoying his first. Still a cracker.
Kings of Leon, Walls. Love this band and got tickets to see them next year but still not sure about this album, too much reverb early on for a start, still need a good listen to make up my mind. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Silent Island are a new project by Csarnogurszky István of Black Hill. This instrumental ambient guitar EP is a very pleasant listen, a mix of shoegaze and post rock style.

Time to wake up! Psychedelic (American) Garage rock.
Buddy Holly. The Definitive Collection. On CD from 2006. Regardless of the format, I find that Buddy's recordings always play with an exuberant musicality. Rife with his youthful energy.
Really enjoying Tidal at the moment. Discovering loads of new stuff to listen to. Some good. Some not so.
This isn't as bad as I was expecting - not sure whether that's 'praise' or not though?
The Five Faces Of Manfred Mann (1964 UK 14-track mono red and black HMV label vinyl.

If you were expecting it to be bad, why did you listen to it when, surely, there must be other music you haven't yet heard which you might expect to be good?

Still one of my favourite Yes albums, this one ripped from a 2004 CD remastered and expanded.
