What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
(1968)
TYA played at a few venues in and around London that some forum members and myself enjoyed back in the day, this TYA album captures a nice picture of part of that great live music scene in the late 60s.

This isn't as bad as I was expecting - not sure whether that's 'praise' or not though?
If you were expecting it to be bad, why did you listen to it when, surely, there must be other music you haven't yet heard which you might expect to be good?
Someone, possibly on this forum, said that there's no such thing as good or bad music, just music you like or don't. A bit of a cliche however I do think that unless you try a wide variety of music, you'll never know what you're missing out on.
Apologies if you didn't like the way I expressed myself, however I do think that if you don't try new things, you'll never appreciate the wide scope of music that's out there. And the worst outcome is that I've wasted a little bit of time listening to something I didn't like all that much.
Best wishes, Nigel

1982 - Original triple vinyl...
Jethro Tull - "Heavy Horses" (1978) prompted by chatter on the forum.

just stumbled on this in my streamed collection -- and found myself playing it through...
enjoy...

Forgot I had this one. Possibly one of the worst covers ever.
Another one that was hidden in the recesses of my collection.
Have really got into this album now. A great recommendation I picked up from this thread.
Just fancied some well recorded hard bop when I saw this on one of the many piles of CDs to be put away, having been ripped to NS01. This is a very enjoyable album indeed.

It's interesting that you've come to that conclusion, Bert. But before you write him off completely, make time to listen to 'Blood on the Tracks'. Maybe that'll provide a way in for you.

Bert, Dylan, for me, is not a singer, he is a story teller, a raconteur. Once you learn to live with his voice, you'll begin to understand the man behind the music. It also took me time to appreciate his music. Have a listen to the album "Desire" and in particular "Hurricane" and you will know what I am talking about.
Here is the background for the song:

Ok will give that a try then....
1968 - Original Vinyl Mono(net picture before someone get in touch enquiring about serial number)
After the Stones booty marathon, I decided to give this lot a spin because I fancy a bit, among others, of EC playing guitar on WMGGW.
Spirit - "Feedback" (1972)
After enjoying Hank Mobley as a sideman on Kenny Drew's album, thought I'd play one of Hank's own. Critics didn't rate this as highly as some of his other work, but that just tells me that critics don't listen properly!
