2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Clearly you've heard the album too.
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood's Big Moon Ritual. A bunch of great musicians playing fine laid back rock seemingly live in the studio.
Airbag, Disconnected. I have a glass of Whiskey, have had my eyes closed, this has played out and I feel OK.
We know that feeling well Slim! Here I sit listening to Carol Kidd's eponymous debut album from 1984 on a Linn vinyl pressing. Midnight smoothiness!

Not familiar with Carol Kidd but that feeling of immersion into the music is wonderful.
By contrast I am listening to My Dying Bride, Songs of Darkness, Words of Light. An album you may expect to play at max volume, but at a low volume it is so dark and much more involving.

This various artists download is the equivalent length of 3 CDs , playing CD1 with tracks varying in resolution from 16/44.1 to 24/96. Experimental, jazzy, progressive, ambient and rock are the main styles from musicians and bands like Markus Reuter, Stick Men and Glistening Leotard.
Steve Winwood. Back In The High Life. On vinyl from 1986. How good is this album? Good enough to lure my wife away from her usual TV crime drama watching and join me for a listen.
The Human League, Unlimited Orchestra, Love and Dancing. Remixes of some of their early hits.
This is a lot of fun. You can imagine the conversations that were had while this was being mixed "that's weird shall we leave it in?". "Yeah! why not!!"
For some cool stereo effects try Do or Die, available on Tidal.
A nice-sounding Impluse! CD. Because it's just a joy, as all of Duke's music is:
On vinyl.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Maximum Joy, WAV CD Rip. A really good collection of their well know singles and some enjoyable covers.
Toris Amos, Little Earthquakes, becuase it is a masterpiece, genuinely original, surprising, challenging and very emotional, utterly wonderful album
The Prodigy, Music For The Jilted Generation, WAV CD Rip. Bonkers!! Time to work out the Speakers
Metallica, ...And Justice For All. WAV CD Rip. Spurred on by Prodigy's Their Law.
The Dame's finest, on early 1980s Japanese vinyl:
Back to that PF megabox. Listening to the 2016 remix of Obscured by Clouds. Definitely a bit punchier than the '72 mix but it does suffer from rather harsh treble.
The Levellers, Zeitgeist. WAV CD Rip. Not played in a long time but it has been in my mind to put it on over the last few days. Certainly and album of its time.

Another afternoon and time for another old solo album from Tom Petty, this one via Tidal.
Big Country - The Crossing.
Why?
Well, it popped up on the car radio 20 minutes ago.....................so now I've got home.............why not?
Amongst the very best of Jock Rock.
1976 - Original vinyl...
Keith Jarrett - A Multitude of Angels. Qobuz download.
First run of disc one - enjoying it a lot.

The man who, to my ears, could do no wrong. This one ripped from a very fine sounding, well produced and recorded 1983 original Mercury Label CD.
